LittleBigPlanet 2 Preview

LittleBigPlanet had possibly the most robust game creation engine on any system now the developers are giving players even more control with LittleBigPlanet 2.

The new creation tools, now seem to give players unlimited power with the Direct Control Seat and Sackbots. When used in conjunction, these two tools allow players to create the genre-bending, outside-the-box stages which you saw in the game’s debut trailer. The other big new tool are Sackbots — humanoid AI creations whose behavior can be completely determined by the creator.

Sackbots can also be fitted with Direct Control Seats as well. One simple application for this technique: A player encounters a gigantic block they can’t get past. If they hop into the equally gigantic Sackbot lying dormant nearby, they can use its superior strength to pull the block to a less bothersome location.

The Direct Control Seat lets the creator map simple functions to the PS3 controller. Placing the device on an object creates a collapsible “circuit board” in the shape of a DualShock. Mapping buttons is as easy as choosing a button on the controller, and then clicking the object you want it to manipulate.

LittleBigPlanet 2 looks to make a huge leap in game creation on the PS3, so far no release date has been announced.

Dead Space 2 Shown at E3

At the EA meeting for E3 Dead Space 2 was shown off and given a release date. In the demo we see that Isaac will now have a jet back built into his suit to help him move around in zero gravity, and new a new weapon that looks like some type of nail gun. EA announced that Dead Space 2 will be coming out January of 25th of 2011. Even though it is a bit of a ways away, just be sure to prepared to kill swarms of Necromorphs of all shapes and sizes.

Day 1 Wrap Up quick peeks

Killzone 3

First off the game looks amazing! Going through a brief section in the campaign you can notice that it controls really well and is very responsive. The jetpack is reliable and easy to use, which is good because you need it to cross the frozen stage. Armed with the jetpacks assault gun and a pistol you encounter the dreaded Helgast. The Helgast soldiers take more evasive steps to avoid you gunfire and grenades. It is a blast to combine the use jetpack to mow down enemies. There is a 3D feature in the game that is mind blowing for this new first person shooter.

Gran Turismo 5

One of the best racing games is finally back on the road. The booth was setup with a racing wheel and pedals. Though it was pretty tough to get used to playing with the wheel and pedals, the game looks really good also in 3D. Gran Turismo 5 releases November 2, this year.

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2

If you played the first Ninja Storm then you will enjoy this one. In a brief 2 part match, Naruto and Sakura faces off against Kakashi in a training fight. As you fight against Kakashi, Sakura is your side partner who you can call into attack. Using Naruto’s signature moves, you whittle away Kakashi’s health bar. Now there are more quick time events while fighting to keep players on their toes. Just when the match is almost won Kakashi gets really serious. Kakashi calls forth three different special attack that Naruto must avoid to win. This game is still as fast, fluid, and as vibrant as the first

3D Gameplay

After playing a few games in 3D, it is actually a good fit. Wipeout HD looks sleek and stunning, MLB: The Show has great depth, Motorstorm: Apocalypse shows debris and dust flying at you. 3D gaming is not a gimmick, it is just expensive. With the 3D TV just realeasing in stores, the price is HIGH. Most likely after a year or two it will be more affordable to more people.

Sony Press Conference: E3 2010

Like a battering ram through the basement doors of gamers everywhere, Sony hits us with an impact leaving us with just enough breath to say one word… “Wow!”

• Live demonstrations of the new Sony “Move”, show us that even though it still requires a hands-on controller, motion control takes a whole new leap. From Eye Pet to Socom, from Sports Champions to Little Big Planet, the Move has all our jaws on the floor in both shock and awe.

• Along with news of the Move, Sony shows us a list of its upcoming titles that already have everyone working on their Christmas wish lists such as Final Fantasy 14, DC Universe Online, Medal of Honor, Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo 5, Little Big Planet 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, Killzone 3, Bulletstorm, and so much more.

• Not only can Ps3 and Ps2 users expect tons of great games, but PsP fans as well. With God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Parasite Eve 3: The 3rd Birthday and other glorious hand held titles…Sony wants to let everyone know that the PsP is back again and is going strong.

• The million of gamers who are also users of the Playstation Network (PSN) can expect a new service coming before the end of the month, PlayStation Plus. It’s a premium service much like the Xbox’s “Live” network… but with a few key differences. The PS-Plus will come with exclusive downloadable content (DLC) for pending and already released titles, free “Qore” subscription (Sony’s online magazine), three free months of said services, as well as goodies and treats not yet released to the public. Subscriptions start at $49.99 a year or $17.99 for three months. And fear not Playstation fans, those of you who do not wish to join the new Playstation experience can still enjoy your free PSN accounts with no change in services or support.

Sony’s Sorcery at E3

Sorcery is one of the new games that Sony unveiled at E3 that is based around the PS3 Move controller. This is the first of many motion control games that Sony revealed at E3, showing the revolution of their new motion controller. Developed by The Workshop, Sorcery puts players in the shoes of sorcerer’s apprentice and his different trials and tribulations to becoming a full sorcerer while protecting his kingdom from evil.

In the game Sorcery, the motion control gives the freedom of moving wherever, boasting full one-to-one control, with the player on screen mirroring the position and movements of the player. One flick at the screen your character waves his wand and casts magic spells. Casting and combining different types of spells give different effects, such as a fire wall and whirlwind spell create a tornado of fire. Sorcery is set to release this fall.
