2XKO Brings in Akali, Local Co-Op, and Meta Tweaks

Riot just dropped 2XKO Patch 1.1.5, and Akali is finally joining the roster. She arrives today as the game’s newest champion, bringing her fast, slippery assassin style into the mix with Twilight Shroud playing a big role in how she pressures and opens people up. Players can unlock her right away with 1,000 KO Points or a Champion Token, or earn her for free through a three-week Champion Recruitment Event before she later becomes available for 10,000 Credits.

Beyond Akali, this patch actually feels pretty loaded. Local Duos is one of the bigger additions, letting two players team up on the same device and play online together, which honestly feels like a great fit for this game. Riot is also doubling account XP and Credits in Local Duo matches, which should make it a pretty easy mode to jump into with a friend.

There’s also a new Spirit Blossom event running from April 9 to April 30, bringing themed rewards like avatar items, an emote, sticker, and player titles. On the competitive side, replay tools are getting better too, with new options for pausing and pulling up hitboxes, hurtboxes, frame data, input history, and more. That is the kind of quality-of-life update that should go over really well with people trying to seriously learn matchups and improve.

Patch 1.1.5 also brings a handful of system-wide gameplay changes, especially around Handshake Tag, meter gain, Break rules, and combo flow. Riot seems pretty clearly focused on toning down some of the more abusable high-level interactions while making long combos a little less rewarding and resets a little more attractive. They also called out that this patch includes more Ekko nerfs along with Jinx and Caitlyn buffs, so it looks like the meta is still being actively shaped even outside of Akali’s arrival.

This feels like one of the more meaningful 2XKO updates so far. Akali gives the roster a big personality boost, from Local Duos to replay upgrades to balance tuning that should matter for both casual players and the lab crowd. There’s also some new skins and content in the store we’re looking to check out and showcase soon on the channel! If this is the pace 2XKO plans to keep, the game is starting to feel a lot more complete.
