Xbox is turning its 25th anniversary into more than just a single event. After confirming FanFest would return alongside the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 in Los Angeles this June, the company has now announced a much bigger plan: Xbox FanFest is going on tour.
The idea here is pretty simple and honestly smart. Instead of keeping the celebration locked to one major showcase, Xbox is taking FanFest to fans around the world throughout the year. The current list of cities includes Cologne, London, Mexico City, Seattle, Sydney, Tokyo, and Toronto, with Xbox also saying more locations are still on the way.
What makes this feel a little more meaningful is that Xbox is not framing it like a copy-and-paste roadshow. According to the announcement, each stop will be shaped around its local community, with in-person experiences meant to bring Xbox worlds to life while giving players the chance to connect with each other, as well as developers and creators behind the games.
That local focus is really the key to whether this lands. Big anniversary celebrations can sometimes feel overly polished and a little distant, but this sounds like Xbox wants FanFest to feel more personal depending on where it shows up. If they get that balance right, this could end up being one of the better ways to celebrate a brand milestone without making it feel like just another marketing lap. That last part is my read on the announcement, but it lines up with how Xbox is positioning these events.
For now, Xbox says fans should keep an eye on the official FanFest page for event-specific details and information on how to secure a spot, with more to be shared over the course of the anniversary year. For longtime Xbox fans, this feels like a solid move: less about one stage, more about showing up where the community actually is
