While we all wait for the third Transformers movie to be released their’s something else to indulge in before that, Transformers: War For Cybertron. The game is shaping up pretty well, one of the better Transformer games that I’ve seen so far. Online multiplayer has many game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Conquest (King of the Hill/Headquarters), Code of Power (where teams fight over a powerful melee weapon), Power Struggle (Capture the Flag), and Count Down to Extinction (Demolition/Sabotage). Above is a taste of the multiplayer action that can be had with the game.
Also just announced are two new playable characters.
SILVERBOLT
Autobot
Class: Scout
Chassis: Jet
Primary Weapon: Photon Burst Rifle
Abilities: Shockwave, Barrier
Description: SilverBolt is a Grim and brave warrior, who often worries more about his teammates then himself. He is courageous, can fly at break-neck speeds and truly believes in the Autobot cause. He would die in defense of his friends if ever given the opportunity.
BRAWL
Decepticon
Class: Soldier
Chassis: Tank
Primary Weapon: Neutron Repeater
Abilities: Whirlwind, Dash
Description: Brawl is Megatron’s pet weapon of mass destruction. He loves nothing more than ripping Autobots limb from limb. He is obsessed with explosions and chaotic, unending combat. He often times thrusts himself to the front lines of battle at the risk of his own spark, not caring whether he lives or dies as long as he takes an Autobot with him.
Their’s also character creation and customization of colors. The ability to change your load of different weapons, different classes, transform anytime anywhere, abilities, and most importantly kill streaks! Looks like Activision has taken a page out of Call of Duty book on this one. This game is definitely a game to look out for on the horizon, due out the second half of June.
Activision’s Thomas Tippl has confirmed that Map Pack 2 for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be released late 2010.  Also confirmed is that Infinity Ward is the team that is developing the second map pack. With the first map pack released earlier this week for Playstation 3, one question comes to mind, will the map pack for Playstation 3 also be delayed or released another month just like the first map pack? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
IGN has compiled a large list of game publishers and developers and what they will offer at E3. If you guys want to keep E3 to be a surprise in what they have to offer please look away! Now this is by no means a full list as they state, it is only games to be confirmed by the publisher or developer. Check back as we’ll update the list when we get word of new entries.

First person to throw verified perfect game in Major League Baseball 2K10. 2K Sports announced today that 24-year-old Wade McGilberry of Semmes, Alabama has won a cash prize in the amount of $1,000,000 by being the first person to throw a verified perfect game in Major League Baseball 2K10.
The special contest, which was available for the Xbox 360 through Xbox LIVE and PlayStation 3 computer through the PlayStation Network.
“It was actually my wife who convinced me to go for it,” said Wade McGilberry, winner of 2K Sports’ Perfect Game competition. “I never thought I’d actually win a million dollars playing a video game, it’s all still sinking in for me.”Â
Wade threw a verified perfect game on the first day of the competition, a feat thought by many to be impossible. He went on to add, “The game itself was fantastic – I’m glad I bought it either way Â- but I have to say, this is a nice return on my investment.” Â Â
To compete, gamers had to play in MLB Today mode, select from any of the available matchups, and then choose the option to participate in the ‘MLB 2K10 contest’ that automatically defaulted to the proper gameplay settings as defined by the official contest rules. Entries had to be recorded via camera or digital video recorder in compliance with guidelines provided by 2K in the official rules, and all eligible entrants had to submit a copy of their recording in its entirety for verification. Submissions were only accepted on DVD.Â
To ensure accuracy in the verification and submission process, 2K Sports partnered with Twin Galaxies International, the worldwide authority on video game world records, and provider of scores to Guinness World Records that are published in the Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition.
Here’s hoping they hold a similar content next year, perhaps 2,000,000??

EA has finally announced a release date for the newly revamped Medal of Honor series due to release on October 12th 2010, and for those keeping tally one month before the newly announced Call of Duty: Black Ops. The new trailer that was recently released titled, “Leave a Message” may hit close to home with some who have family over seas serving in the armed forces. The game setting has been brought out of the World War era and into the Modern War era from what we can tell at Medal of Honor’s website. Looks like the guys at EA are finally trying to cash in on the modern warfare era.
KontrolFreek creates products that help to give gamers a competitive edge to win. Their patent pending products have been used in competition and home use for the past three years. They are said to improve performance and reduce fatigue.
Now if you’ve ever played PC games, the gap between mouse and keyboard and controllers has always been an issue. Most would say a controller will never have the precision that a mouse has. KontrolFreek have created a product for your analog sticks to improve performance and accuracy by decreasing your reaction time and increasing mobility.
FPSFreek is a mod for your Xbox 360 and PS3 controllers, which will increase your accuracy in first person shooter games. How does this work you ask? The analog stick that you attach on top of your original ones provide a length of 40% more linear distance, providing more range from side to side. This enables you to have more leverage and increased precision without complications or fatigue. Think of it this way, if someone asked you to lean a short stick 0.01 millimeters to the left you may not be able to do it properly. However if you were asked to lean a much longer stick to the same amount, it can be moved at a shorter distance enabling the correct feet. Sometimes such precise measurements are needed for the right moments.
Now we have tried them on a couple of games ranging from Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, Boardlands and the newly released Halo Reach Beta. At first having something that elongated our controls analog stick took some getting used to. At one point I felt like it was hindering my ability to play the games but not to long after it had a natural feel to it. Games like Modern Warfare 2 and Halo gave me a great sense of being at the top of my game. I had more accuracy with making headshots and just felt more in control of my actions on the field.
What’s great about them is that they come two in a small box and give you different options on how you want to use them. They were pretty easy to put on but had a little difficulty taking them off right away. You can either play with both, one on each analog stick of the controller or just have one on the preferred stick of your choice. I had felt like Modern Warfare 2 benefited on having both, while on the other hand Halo seemed just as good with only the right analog stick to support it. We have also found it useful to experiment with different types of games and settings. Turning the sensitivity up can sometimes be your best bet. Trying different games out should be done, as Skate 3 surprisingly had positive effects. Since tricks are performed with the right analog stick, the given freedom that the FPSFreek had, gave us an easier time achieving hard to land tricks, so keep your options open.
KontrolFreek also have a product for racers out there as well. What FPSFreek does for First Person Shooters, SpeedFreek does for racing games. SpeedFreek is said to give gamers added control and comfort when playing racing games on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The supporting side walls are suppose to give you the most accuracy and precision needed during a race.
Now what the side walls really do is try to give you a sense of strict movement from left to right so it would actually be less control of your analog stick but in this case its what’s needed. In many occasions we have the tendency to swing our left analog stick up and down slightly while trying to move it left and right during racing games. Now if you’ve played games like Forza, Grand Turismo, Need for Speed or soon to be released Split/Second, then you know that their is no need for such movements from top to bottom. SpeedFreek will allow you to ease the pressure off your thumb and sort of swing it left and right. The side walls become almost a safety net and will prevent any sudden movements from up and down. This doesn’t mean you can’t move them in any direction but the automatic reflex is just not there.
As noted above, the sudden loss of pressure from our thumb on the left analog stick was a good thing. During gameplay I just went with the flow of a race and had increased my performance. This didn’t seem to happen all the time, sometimes the effect was slight but in the very least it does not hinder your experience at all, so its something to take note.
Overall both products do give you an edge on your competition, whether its playing online in an FPS or trying to win a race. FPSFreek gave us maximum benefits with the extended analog sticks, which can also be used for more then First Person Shooters. While the SpeedFreek gave us a slight success probability but will not hurt your chances of play either way. With both products, that comes with a pair are only $9.99 and save $2 if you get both the FPS and SpeedFreek, they are a good deal. These mods will by no chance make you the export player you’ve always dreamed of, it will only improve on what you already do but we strongly recommend checking it out.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!! So this week is the first week of the Halo:Reach Beta. With the huge number of downloads and people playing all day long, I was surprised that downloading the 1.7gig file on XBL took less than 30 minutes.
Immediately after the download I jumped right back into the Halo universe and it felt like I got smacked in the face. After spending so much time with um …Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 playing Halo: Reach definitely took some getting used to again. I immediately noticed that the button layout was changed up a bit. The shock of having my button layout messed with, on top of the fact that I’m actually playing a brand new Halo game didn’t come without hardship.
First thing I noticed from the beta was the new maps. All the stages are laid out very strategically for any game mode of play that is voted on. Like any Halo game the maps are compact but seem vast. Swordbase, is a smaller map with a four story with walkways connecting from each side. Some of rooms lead across its own side to reach another walkway to the other side but can also be done from the outside. One man cannon in the very bottom of it is also imminent here. Powehouse, is a perfect 4 on 4 made stage. It had streams of water running in the middle a giant base in the corner, outhouses and rocky mountains. A good variety here with plenty of strategies to form and take advantage of.
With the addition of new class specific abilities the battle on the field comes from all over especially from above.
The Scout class gives you the Sprint ability to reach enemies faster. This class is great for all around play. The speed bursts give you the ability to run up behind unsuspecting players and attempt an assassination kill, or the chance to run ahead your teammates to capture a flag or hill. My favorite is to get the hell out of tight situations.
Guard class gives the Armor Lock ability. Armor Lock is basically an ability that is useful in holding areas or points and a last ditch effort to stay alive. When activated your armor powers up, giving you limited invulnerability, and if held to completion will give off an EMP blast automatically killing a person close to you. The only downfall is that you are unable to move until the power meter depletes or let go of the lock and will probably have people surround you until its up so a new strategy will need to be formed.
Stalker class ability gives you active camo. The Active Camo is great for sneaking up on opponents and creating confusion. When activated, the Active Camo scrambles radars. Use of this class are vast, basically have fun with it and get creative. The less movement you make the more undetected you become, visually and on the radar. Airborne class is all jet packs all the time. Fly high and reach places you couldn’t previously. This class is great for if you want to get to higher ground without trekking all the way around the map to get to the penthouse levels. Careful, the jetpack attached to your back is like a mini nuke, enough shots on that and your dead before you know it.
Covenant Evade is race specific. In the Covy Slayer game mode you can access the Covenant Warrior or Covenant Zealot. The only difference between the two classes are the load out of weaponry. Warriors start off with a Plasma Repeater as their primary while Zealots start off with the Needler Rifle. So far the only downfall of all the abilities, are when transporting the skull for oddball or a flag, the use of abilities will make you drop whatever you are carrying.
Currently the new playable game modes available are Head Hunter and Stockpile. Both of these game modes are very interesting in their own sense. Head Hunter can be fun and cruel at the same time. Shoot to kill and kill for revenge. Expect to die often in this game mode since everyone will be gunning for each other. Collect the heads and return them to a waypoint. The only catch is the way points spawn randomly in different locations.
Stockpile is a capture the flag mutation. Multiple flags, two opposite flag return points, and enemies trying to steal the flags that you’ve returned to your base. This game mode requires a lot of communication between your teammates.
So far the Halo: Reach Beta has been a very great experience or very nostalgic experience to be exact. Jumping back into the Halo universe is quite exciting. I am very interested in what else Bungie has in store for us during this beta. Just make sure to keep checking back for updates up until May 19th.
