What we know from the announcement of the Playstation 4 Pro and Slim

Sony had their press conference yesterday finally unveiling their Playstation Neo project and it is now called the Playstation 4 Pro. First however they announced what will be the replacement for the Playstation 4 which is the Playstation 4 Slim.
playstation-4-pro-conference
Breaking down the Playstation 4 Slim it has a storage capacity of 500gb or 1tb (terabite) model, will now feature HDR playback via a firmware patch, have an updated Dualshock 4 controller, will be compatible with all Playstation 4 games and starts at $299. To make a small comparison to the Xbox One S which was released earlier in August that has a 500gb, 1tb and 2tb model, with an updated Xbox One controller and the biggest difference aside it also playing HDR content it has a UHD blu ray player for 4k physical disc. It will release September 15 2016.

The Playstation 4 Pro was their main subject and we’ve learned quite a bit of info on it. It has double the power of the original PS4 with an overclocked CPU, 1tb hard drive out of the box and HDR / 4K support which Netlix and Youtube will support with new apps. They went into detail on how they want higher resolution and HDR to be the focal point for what gamers can expect in the new box. Showing off a few games the range of fidelity in HDR gaming with some of their titles can definitely be seen. They’ve also given developers a choice to scale games how they want to cater to those wanting a high fidelity experience. Whether they want to get as close to 4K as possible in resolution, keep the game at 1080p but have higher anti alias on screen or dynamic scaling from scene to scene. The Playstation Pro will be releasing this year November 10, 2016 for $399.

One huge oversight on all of this is that Sony doesn’t seem to be including a 4K blu-ray player in either of their models or iterations of consoles and as of this point Microsoft already has the Xbox One S with a 4K blu ray player inside for $299? It has been said that they want the focus to be on gaming and what you can get right from the box but we’re not sure if this was ultimately to bring the price down? The Playstation 4 Pro is not a bad deal to get what will be effectively the most powerful console available until the Scorpio will be out next year but for those wanting 4K blu ray the Xbox One S seems to beat the Playstation Slim hands down.

We’ll give you more info on the new consoles as it comes in.

Moshi Avanti review: All style

Moshi is known for doing .. well lots of different things. They pride themselves on having very stylish yet affective products. With the Moshi Avanti, their first line of over ear headphones you can definitely tell product design is at the top of this but everything else seems to fall just short of its product design.

Hardware
The first thing we noticed about the Avanti’s is that they have an angled earcup with a closed back on-ear design for noise isolation and long periods of use. Another thing is the portability of it which has rotatable stainless steel headband so you can pack it nice and tight in its carry case that it comes with. High-resolution HD40 neodymium drivers to deliver high quality sound at such a compact size. The detachable cable with built in remote and microphone will let you control music while taking calls all with the headphones on. All the features outlined can be found below.

moshi-advantis
Features
High-resolution HD40 neodymium drivers (15 Hz-22kHz / -10dB@1kHz).
Angled earcup design for improved comfort over extended periods.
Closed back, on-ear (supra-aural) design for excellent noise isolation.
Engineered to provide a balanced and immersive sound.
Enhanced portability with a rotatable stainless steel headband and custom carrying case.
Detachable cable with built-in remote and microphone compatible with most phones and tablets.

Performance
Moshi Avanti’s seem to perform decent when listening to music normally. It sometimes has a muffled sound on its midrange sound which we weren’t expecting, however if you download the necessary burn-in app it would fine tune them giving you much clearly sound that we find to be very good. Bass was also somewhat challenging to get a read on earlier but after the app it became clear that the bass level was noticeable, just not as heavy as some other headphones we’ve seen.
moshi_avanti_flagship_on_ear_headphones_342
Comfort level seemed standard, it did better on one end then another. This was in the form of its size and weight which would allow you to wear them for hours since it didn’t feel weighted on your head. However the angled earcup design meant for comfort didn’t sit well on a few peoples ears since their isn’t a hole for your ear in the center. It’s also worth noting that if you have a particularly smaller head then it won’t stay on your head that well either. We’ve find this to be the case on some women’s head but when it fits it fits well.

Bottom line
The Moshi Avanti’s are one of the most stylish headphones we’ve come across, it’s definitely an eye turner and is compact enough to fit most places others can’t. Their is some sacrifice with this amount of style and small form factor but not much. Pricing is around what you get from other headphones of this nature but wished they would get a little more competitive in this respect. As long as you’re not doing things intensive like running or exercising these are great for the everyday commuter or taking it around on travels and otherwise.

Huawei watch review: Possibly best overall watch on your wrist

Android watches are nothing new and with the amount of new players that hit the market it’s hard to differentiate one another being it is the same software at the heart. Huawei is a Chinese company known for making pretty impress android phones at competitive prices. They’ve entered the fray with Android watches and have some pretty impressive features under the hood and above it.
huawei-watch-real
Hardware
It packs a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of space to store music and apps, and Wi-Fi onboard. It has a 400×400-pixel resolution and a 1.4-inch AMOLED display which is protected by sapphire crystals which makes it harder to scratch or break. To put it the watch looks gorgeous off the bat with a nice leather band and can easily be confused with a high end watch. It’s also water and splash resistance but of course like any other device of this nature don’t submerge it in water like a pool.

Unlike other watches like the Moto 360 which has a slight cut off at the bottom of its screen otherwise known as the flat tire and ASUS ZenWatch 2 or Sony SmartWatch 3 which look more like Apple Watches. The Huawei not only looks like a classic watch but looks like a high end one at that. The size measures at 42mm which is the standard size for one although it might be more comfortable for a man versus a women because of that. It also features the quick release to put other kinds of bands on it which certainly takes the stress out of needing a tool to do so.

The watch features a 300 mAh battery which with a always on display and compared to other watches that don’t feature it last surprisingly long. When tested we got it to around a day and a half. We’ve also noticed it has a smart feature where when the watch is not in motion for sometime will go to sleep and activate once it’s moved or an alert comes in. This also helps on the battery longevity before its next charge.
Huawei-Watch-collection
Software
Huawei’s Android watch has a feature or two that separate it from the rest. One which is probably my favorite features is the always on display on default. It’ll display a dim version of the face you have then light in full when you tilt it. Really nice touch to the watch as it gives it a classier look.

Like other Android smart watches its normal function allows connection with your phone which will display what the phone displays as alerts and also stores information like calendar activity. It’s driven by the Android wear app which sincs with either your Android or IOS device. While the watch does have fitness information it is basic and will only allow basic tracking since it’s not meant for activities of that nature.

Improvements
The watch comes with a small magnetic charge dock that is suppose to align the three pins of the watch with the pins on the dock and is actually difficult to get on their correctly. While the watch has an impressive amount of faces that it can change into, more then I’ve seen in other watches the variety of them is inconsistent. In other watches while it had less faces it had more options which allowed you to change face colors, numbers etc. Huawei didn’t put many options on their faces so what you put is normally how you have to have it.

The watch has certainly dropped in price which has made it competitive against other Android watches since its build quality seems higher. Only issue here is that the watch currently has different face builds like Stainless steel silver, black and gold yet they are all radically priced differently. Example the stainless steel silver is the most affordable with a Black Suture Leather Strap and the black stainless steel only comes with a Black Stainless Steel Link Band to start. The black should also have a affordable black suture leather strap pricing it to the silver giving people more options.

Bottom line
The Huawei smart watch has to be my favorite Android watch that has been released. I absolutely love its look, feel and always on feature. While it doesn’t boast many exclusive or higher end features, what it does have responds very well. Its become my normal wear watch that I can put on everyday or at events with the same amount of head turn every time.

The Z Kickstarter looks to be most advanced gaming mouse

From the company that made the Swiftpoint GT gesture mouse comes their latest and greatest The Z. This gaming mouse has an incredible amount of features and uses your hand motion like no other mouse before it. Some of its highlights consist of tilt control for leaning over cover or turning wheels for vehicles, turning it in 90degree motions to look around while possibly walking forward and lifting it to fly something like a helicopter.

This is not to mention that it has an OLED display, features for programing and creating settings. To quote them there are “50 clickable button actions…. while barely moving a finger.” We’d love to get my hands on one to take our PC gaming to the next level. All sounds pretty insane and pricing is comparable to other competitive gaming mice out there. You can find their Kickstart here and the early bird price started at $139. The Kickstarter was actually already funded but there are still a few days to get in on the action so I wouldn’t hesitate.

CE Week 2016: Audio roundup

The Consumer Electronic Week (CE Week) took New York by storm last week with a decent amount of gadgets the biggest highlight of course was audio equipment. Here is a small round up of some of the tech we saw at the show.

photiv
Photiv
Showed off a series of their new speakers from in home to rugged on the beach they seem to have you ready for any occasion. They even have a set of wireless and cordless earbuds releasing in the future which we’ll have more details about. Things look and sound good for the Photiv line.

ak
Astell&Kern
Astell&Kern are pioneers in audio quality and share no expensive as their line of audio players delivered unfiltered music as if you were actually there. We got to check out some of players with their Astell & Kern AK T8iE MkII earphones which sounded quite great but comes with a hefty price tag. If you want the top you’ll find it here.

clear
Cleer
Cleer were making a strong impression with their over ear headphone line that ranged in price and quality. The ones that really stood out were the Cleer NC (Noise Canceling) and the Cleer wireless as they both had really crisp sound. I would easily rank them as one of the best headphones I’ve heard throughout the show.

phazon
Phazon
A newly successful launch on Indiegogo campaign is what brought Phazon to the forefront. Their wireless and cordless earbuds are nothing we’ve seen, sporting slick design and a great look and feel. They are only in the early stages so full working demos were not there but they did have mocks of what it will sound and look like. They’re aiming for a November release and we update with more info on them.

This was only a taste of what we experienced so stay tuned for more from LVLONE on CE Week NY 2016.

E3 2016: Playstation VR full release date, price and game info

It’s a no brainer that Sony was going to go into great detail on their Playstation VR as it’s imminently around the corner and what do you know we were right!

It’s finally here. PlayStation VR! With a release date of October 13th this year, we will be receiving 50+ games by the end of the year! Some of these games include special versions or experiences from Star Wars: Battlefront, Batman: Arkham, and Final Fantasy XV, and even Resident Evil. E3 2016: Sony’s bringing a new God of War to the PS4

0

With the last press conference before the big show at E3 Sony started off swinging at their annual press conference. Something that looked all too familiar they finally unveiled none other then the new God of War.

With a beautiful score leading into the official world premiere gameplay demo of God of War; and man, did this game look awesome. The only game to have not been kept a secret from Sony’s camp as news of development from its studio was well known about. There have been obvious changes to what normal fans of the series are accustomed too, but these changes are most definitely welcomed. It’s a very nice breath of fresh air with the new behind-the-shoulder camera angle and a very interesting new combat system. Not only were there changes implemented in the gameplay, but also the mythology behind it, Norse mythology to be exact. We cannot wait to get our hands on this game, being a huge God of War fan ourselves, we’re going to be keeping a very close eye in the coming months.

E3 2016: Xbox’s new hardware announcements + spec video

At the Microsoft press conference they didn’t have one but two hardware announcements that started in the beginning and the very end of the briefing.

First up was the announcement of the Xbox One S aka the Xbox One Slim. Boasting 4K Ultra HD video streaming, 4K Ultra HD blu-ray, High Dynamic Range, a 40% smaller console, and a streamlined controller this one takes a queue from the Xbox 360 slim playbook. It will be available at 500gb, 1tb and 2tb hard drives and starts at $299 in August. If you’d like to see it in action take a look at the video above for it in action.

The second and last reveal was a look into the future of the Xbox One. Project Scorpio is going to be the ideal console from Microsoft for 4k gaming and high fidelity graphics. This new console boasts a better GPU for 4k gaming, would have six teraflops of computing power, can handle VR gaming which no other announcements have been made hardware wise from Microsoft and everything the Xbox One S has as well. This looks to be available holiday 2017 and Phil Spenser claims it will be the most powerful gaming console ever built.

We’ll be giving more info and our thoughts on all of this in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

E3 2016: Xbox Play Anywhere bridges the gap of console and PC gaming

One of Microsoft’s biggest things that was said throughout the Xbox conference today was the new Xbox Play Anwhere program they are enabling.

Xbox Play Anywhere is Microsoft’s big bridge between console and PC gaming. They’re making a push like never before on how you play games and who you can play with. If you purchase the game digitally on either on Windows 10 or Xbox One you will own it on the other platform for free. Not only that but games that feature multiplayer will have cross platform play. Here is a list of all the games available so far Gears of War 4, Killer Instinct: Season 3, Forza Horizon 3, Recore, Cuphead, Slime Rancher, The Culling, Everspace ARK: Survival Evolved, Sea of Thieves, Scalebound, State of Decay 2, and Halo Wars 2.

More games to come and this will give players how they want to play and who they want to play with. If you save or record footage on the Xbox One you can continue you progress on your PC and vise versa. We’ll give you more info on this as it comes in!
