Road to E3 2016: Are you ready for virtual reality?

0

Supposedly this is the year for virtual reality. With the announcement of Oculus, project Morpheus now named the Playstation VR, and even the Vive there’s so much hype for virtual reality games and video content but with all these options available do you have what it takes to actually play with a VR system? One of the earliest adopters of the VR system has been cell phones. Whether it be a cheapo Google goggles or the more expensive Samsung Gear VR I feel that the first steps into the VR world did a great job to start gamers and media hungry consumers off to the new world of VR. If you haven’t already I’d highly suggest trying both out when you get the chance, the Google goggles ($15) can be ordered, and the Samsung Gear VR ($100) is in your local Best Buy. Of course both devices require a phone to use so do keep that in before purchasing.

Stepping up the VR game and kicking it to another level is the HTC Vive. Not everyone will be able to get their hands on this set of VR goggles, not because of availability but because of the sheer price tag ($800) and the hardware it takes to run something like this. As of recent they are shipping these almost as soon as you order it but the price is definitely holding people back. The HTC Vive is one of the first VR headsets for the PC that is currently available, with the Oculus Rift ($600) coming out later in August, the Vive will be the first realistic leap into the hardcore realm of VR. Having such an incredible gaming accessory needs an incredible gaming platform. Keep in mind that the Vive’s recommended PC specs even before peripherals like a monitor, mouse, and keyboard costs close to $1000 and in the long run looking at a total cost of $2300 dollars. This is a huge dent into one’s bank account, and this isn’t even including games and content that needs to be purchased through Steam, but the end product of being fully immersed into a game with full motion and range of your body is second to none.
Virtual reality is slowly growing, and a lot of companies are stroking this fire to get the flames ablaze.

Recent rumors have also been circulating that a certain game company is even making a VR game for Xbox One .. what or how any of that is happening with no other info is beyond what we know at the current moment but with E3 literally around the corner everything VR will probably be showcased for most one way or another.

The only thing now is if consumers like you or myself capable or are even ready to take on that financial responsibility to start down the path of virtual reality. I ask you guys to leave some comments because I’d love to see how you guys feel about VR and the future.

Scientist creates hover bike that looks like Destiny’s Sparrow bike

Scientist Colin Furze likes trying new innovating things and after going through numerous tests it looks like his latest project is a hover bike but not just any hover bike, one that looks an awful lot like a Sparrow speeder from Destiny. Check out the bike in action as he’s surprised himself that it even takes off the ground. If you need any further convincing check out 2 minutes and 50 seconds in where he does some really neat things with it.

I guess we’ll have to wait to see when it really starts taking beta form and if he starts to design in like anything familiar that we’ve seen like it already does.

Xbox and Playstation cross-platform play almost imminent!?

The Game Developers conference is this week and with that will come news across different developers and publishers. One big news right out of the gate is coming from Microsoft. They announced several things in the pipeline but the most notable is the fact they will be enabling their console to have the ability to cross-platform play not only with PC (natively on Windows 10) but also on other consoles. This will be on a dev by dev bases and other consoles would have to agree on there end as well but Microsoft made it clear this is an open invitation.

The first game we will see on a cross platform spectrum is Rocket League which will let Xbox players and PC play with each other. It had been a requested feature for sometime and now it is happening. With how things look at the moment the ball is on Sony’s court if they’d want PS4 games to enable games for cross-platform play with Xbox One, time will tell but this would the biggest thing since slice bread!

Feel every gunshot, every movement in a vehicle, footsteps and even jumping within your game like never before as the unit is said to work with Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC. The Division beyond the beta preview

The Division beta made a splash last weekend and is safe to assume that the reception has been good thus far. It gave players the chance to get a taste of the games mechanics, story and play style. The beta consisted of one story mission, some side missions and access to a part of the Dark Zone which is their PVP area. We caught up with Ubisoft this week and had the pleasure of getting a demo of the game that went beyond the beta giving us a few more guns, unlockables, areas of play and real live book that surrounds it while understanding more on how it all works.

Creating a character gave us access at the list of customizations available that wasn’t in the beta like different hairstyles, tattoos, scars and accessories. Like the beta we were thrown into the game (Chelsea Piers in NYC) and asked to make it to headquarters where we’d get our main objective. The mission gives us access to the fist part of the medical wing where we got the Clinic up and running. We could see a slew of other options ready to purchase like Virus Lab, Disaster Aid Quarantine and more, which not only give us new sections at headquarters but they are the way to unlocking new abilities for your character. You start off with a base skill and unlocking more areas within your headquarters gives you access to the modifications of the base.

Completing side missions was just like the beta although we had more to choose from. I was particular found of a gun I hadn’t seen in the beta which was a Classic M60 Machine Gun. The newest addition we got to experience was gaining control of a Safe House which acts like the Headquarters. The Division is a persistent online game and when you’re not out in the open world completing tasks you can go to Safe Houses you’ve unlocked and meet/see other players that are there. This allows you to interact or even group with others as this is the only place you can do so.

While we didn’t get a chance to fully dive into the Dark Zone it was the same as the beta. Taking point in different landmarks and attempting defeat some of the games higher level enemies while keeping an eye our for rogue players if you weren’t going rogue yourself.

It’s also worth noting that we got a taste of the book “New York Collapse” that will be releasing alongside the game. The books creator Alex Irvine gave us insight that it served as a survival guide to women within New York City as the pandemic was taking place. The interesting part of the book is not only its interactivity which items within it that help unravel the mysteries of what’s going on but pages within the book are also in the game to uncover more.

The Division has really grounded itself in the world it has created. The RPG elements that make up the mechanics work very well and are enough mixture of third person shooter with the rest to make an equal blend. Stay tuned to LVLONE for our interview with one of the developers of the game and more info as it comes in.

Street Fighter V to get big story mode post launch. First look trailer

Detail was spilled today for Street Fighter V’s story mode and character origins. First off when people pickup the game Feb 16th they will have the opportunity to play through individual character stories that provide important background information on each of the characters, their roles in the game, and their relationships with other fighters. It will be in an illustration art style as you go through the game learning about the fighters.

This will actually serve as a prologue for the game as a cinematic story expansion, which will be released in June 2016 as a free update to all players. The story takes place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III and bridges the events that happen in between the two stories. This is the first time in franchise history that fans will be able to play through this type of cinematic story experience in a Street Fighter game which is a big deal.

A leak from Amazon earlier last week which has thus been removed and the product page for the Play Set on B&H photo had surfaced, been taken down and resurfaced. They all have the same dates which puts Marvel Battlegrounds to release on March 15th 2016. The characters and power discs for this play set that will sell alongside it had also been revealed. The play set includes only one figure which is Captain America from the Civil War movie set to release in May, Vision, Black Panther, Ant Man and Black Suit Spider Man. All the characters are circulating the latest Captain America movie release but it’s also noteworthy that this will be the first play set that doesn’t include a female figure let alone a second charcater all together.

It seems the play set will retail for $29.99 which is $5 cheaper then any others at msrp. Do you think the play set with one figure at this price is worth it? We’ll give you more info on this and if more is announced in future updates.
