G4TV to Possibly Rebrand??
In a recent report by Variety, NBC Universal is planning a rebranding on one of gamer’s favorite TV stations, G4TV. Along with the name itself being changed, the programming itself may be changed to fit their target audience. Who’s their target audience you ask? You of course. Over the years G4 has been transformed it’s shows to find the best fit to stay up to date with what people want to see. NBCU plans to upscale it’s programming to fit a more GQ-ish oriented style who look for some adrenaline in their shows. Kickstarter: A blessing or a curse for gamers?

Kickstarter has been a recent website that’s been popping up more and more in the gaming community. With the success of Tim Schaffer’s point and click adventure game project being funded in just a few hours or being posted, more and more game designers are looking for the same vein to strike gold from. Kickstarter is great for people trying to make the American dream happen, but what does it do for gamer who really want a game?
Being a backer for any project, can give you great benefits, like finding out all the processes that’s been taking place during the games entire development. Also depending on how much you decide to fund into the project there are set rewards that the developers choose to give you. But what happens when the funding isn’t quite there for the developer? Well there’s no risk for either party. Kickstarter seems to have in place a no completed funding goal, no money is exchanged deal. So gamers and developers are both safe from the risk of trying to create a game, the only real downside is the crash of dreams of a game being made. So with no risk no reward being considered why aren’t there more backers for great projects being funded?
Now that you know there’s little risk in funding a project, will it make you more likely to be a backer for a project or are you still skeptical?
3DS redesign unveiled, larger screens, Circle Pad sold separate

The Nintendo 3DS is making another hit in the market, and this time, it’s going to be big.
Nintendo has revealed a new design for the 3DS that will have 90 percent larger screens and is dubbed the Nintendo 3DS XL. The system is street dated for August 19 (compared to a July 28 date for Europe), same as the New Super Mario Bros. 2. Starting price has been set at $199. Away goes the glossy, candy-esque paint job we’re used to and in will come in, launch day, DS Lite-esque blue and red colors.. For those curious about how this will size up with the original, here’s a comparison picture.

Only a couple of cons come with the new design. In addition to the system being larger than the previous model (a gift and a curse), the new model is reportedly not shipping with a power adapter in non-US models “as a money-saving measure,” according to Joystiq. There is no definitive word on whether or not the system will be shipping with a power adapter for the US model, but as it seems, they may be shipped powerless.
Now, with that out of the way, gamers can clearly see there is a lack of a second Circle Pad on the handheld. This is due to Nintendo officially announcing the second Circle Pad will come in the form of a 3DS XL-sized Circle Pad Pro. Already large enough, the system will become even larger with this accessory. Leaving out a mandatory second pad allows for gamers to use the pad at their leisure, should they choose to purchase it. No street date has been set for this accessory.
