Playstation FINALLY released new information and even gameplay of the up and coming Marvel’s Spider-man during their E3 conference. The new Spider-man game will be action packed. From the looks of the gameplay, there’ll be tons of free motion combat which Spider-man is known for as well as tactical take downs, fast paced building to building web swinging and running, and quicktime events. During the E3 demo, it gave us some information of the story and a little bit of spoilers at the very end. Spider-man apparently encounters a new gang of baddies called the Demons and their boss Mister Negative aka Martin Li, as well as an imprisoned King Pin, Captain Wantanabe who is may possibly be Wraith depending on what Earth this Spider-man will take place on, and lastly Miles Morales who is actually the Ultimate Spider-man. The new gameplay leaves a lot to wonder, especially who else is in store villain and hero wise. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more information on the new Marvel’s Spider-man that will be out next year in 2018.
Shadow of the Colossus NOT for the PS3 but PS4 E3 2017
Playstation gave us a sneak peak trailer of Shadow of the Colossus at E3. HOLY HELL does it look good! Bluepoint was the studio that covered the remake of the HD version of Shadow of the Colossus for the PS3 and seems to be the company to handle the PS4 edition. Not sure if this will be a remake, but it does seem like it was redone from the ground up and remade specifically for the PS4 port. Due out next year in 2018.
Monster Hunter World E3 2017
Monster Hunter World will be out early next year and not just for Playstation! Capcom has mentioned that the new Monster Hunter will be out next year on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. From what we hear the new Monster Hunter will support up to four-player co-op with drop-in, drop-out mechanics that will allow players from across regions team up and hunt and gather resources. So you may want to brush up on your Japanese in case you party up and all you can do is just emote to one another.
Dragon Ball FighterZ E3 2017
During the Microsoft event, out of nowhere Dragon Ball FighterZ was announced. There’s not a whole lot of information came from the announcement but what we do know is that DBFZ will be a 2D fighting game that will have up to 3v3 matches. There seems there will be some type of story mode but we aren’t sure how far along the story line we will be. From the trailer it seems that Gold Frieza is available so it may lead into the current super Saiyan god saga. A closed beta will be available on Xbox 1 and PS4 before the end of summer, and the full game will be available on XB1, PS4, and PC early 2018.
EA Play Press Confrence Reaction, E3 2017 – What Looked Good And What Disappointed
EA had their conference and it turned out to be pretty good although without much surprises. Star Wars Battlefront II was the main draw but there were a few other good looking games there too like A Way Out and Anthem.
Is Auro 3D more immersive then Dolby Atmos & DTS:X ?
It’s easy to commonly know one or two brands when they’re on the consumer front lines the most. Some would know that brand as the originator or creators of anything it makes or promotes but that’s not always the case. A great example is how Dolby Atmos being seen as the first consumer codecs to offer atmospheric sound. Many don’t know that Auro 3D was actually the originator of it and while they haven’t really made a foothold on the consumer market, they’re looking to change that but is it something to invest in?

Lets start with something not everyone knows which is for the past few years a big thing to be in certain movie theaters is atmospheric sound. This is not only speakers from the front, back and sides but also speakers on the ceiling firing down which give the effect of speakers being all around you. Auro 3D was the first to do this then Dolby with Dolby Atmos and then DTS with DTS:X. Dolby Atmos made a splash by being the first to release the codecs on consumer level receivers and certain blu-ray movies. All three have their own algorithms to try and give you that same immersive sound even if the content is not specific to the codecs.
The main difference with the codecs is that while Dolby Atmos and DTS:X mostly take advantage of having 1-2 pairs of height speakers Auro 3D set its sites on maximizing how many speakers to use. 11.1 is their sweet spot with a channel they only use that is a speaker directly above the listening position which they call “The Voice of God” giving consumers the ultimate immersive experience. You don’t need 11.1 channels to enjoy their algorithm as it does a great job with as many or little speakers as you have in your setup.

Auro 3D has different listening experiences depending on the content and some sound better then others. We’ve found that the best experience is with live music as it opens up every speaker just right and makes you feel like you’re in the middle of a concert hall! The same works for concert shows which we’ve tested. Streaming also works pretty well with Auro 3D and Auro-Matic as it takes the basic 5.1 track and disperses some pretty good balance across your other channels. This seemed to be on par with Dolby’s algorithm as it might be a preference thing but found ourselves enjoying the listening.
a good sense of where things were coming from. Forza Horizon 3 sounded a bit too muddy for our taste. However Halo 5 and Gears of War 4 sounded like it was doing a great job at hitting particular speakers for separation. We also know soon their will be certain games that will have Auro 3D native for people to take advantage of. Blu-ray movies as well will be change by movie and user. Some movies like Batman V Superman sounded ok while Transformers sounded better then I thought it would have.
Our big takeaway is that Auro 3D seems to do great with older content or tracks that have a limited number of channels in it to begin with, it somehow knows where to place sound in the right areas better then Dolby and DTS. Channels that are 7.1, Dolby Atmos or DTS:X might sound better in their respective codecs if you have it but testing it to see which one is better is your best bet. It’s worth taking the plunge if you have a system that supports Auro 3D as they are only looking into more ways in approving the algorithm and implementing them into more movies and content to take advantage of.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series Episode One Review
Telltale, if you’ve been living under a rock has created a ton of games. Everything from The Walking Dead franchise, Batman, Game of Thrones, Minecraft: Story Mode, and The Wolf Among Us just to name a few, have been… well in a sense Telltale’d. They have taken popular universes and given each universe a twist and in depth unique story where people grow to love, while giving people a way to find a fondness for the new and old characters to each series. This time around I’ll be covering the new Telltale series Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Since this game is usually structured in 5 episodes this will be a multi part review with the 5th being a video wrap up review and what we thought about everything and how they wrapped it up.
So with the release of Guardians the Galaxy Vol. 2 I’m sure many people are aware of who Guardians are and what they do. If not, then you may want to watch the first movie, second movie optional of course, but at least the first movie should give you a good introduction to the characters of the Marvel universe. If you’re familiar with the characters then you’ll see some artistic adjustments to some of the characters. Character personalities and voices are a little different but they do get fairly close to what they are in the movies which is nice, but they aren’t so different that you’ll hate the re-imagined characters. The look of the characters do differ a little bit but again let’s keep in mind that Telltale likes to give characters a little bit more of a cartoon/animated look to them with minor adjustments to costume design and physical qualities.
Besides the looks of the game and the characters, since the release of the first Guardians movie, music has always played a vital role. The music choices have carried over to the Telltale game, even though the music is definitely an older genre. I must admit it’s very enjoyable and catchy, no wonder why the playlist is labeled as “Rad Mix”. The music selection all kicks back to the 70’s, and the music is upbeat enough to really get your head bobbing and maybe even your foot tapping, just don’t let Drax catch you or he might call you pathetic as Quill knows far too well.
Since some of you may have never played a Telltale game, the controls are a little bit different compared to your traditional games. Depending on the action on the screen, controls are either quick time button presses, or you control the character around the screen to interact with different items or objects in the area where your character is. For myself I played with a mouse and keyboard, so on console it will be a little different. Combination button presses, mousing over, clicking and dragging will catch you off guard sometimes but that’s the greatness of the playing Telltale games. It keeps you really engaged into the game, which in turn keeps you really engaged of the ebbs and flows of the story.
It goes without saying that the game takes place a bit later on in the Guardian’s timeline when they’ve been a team for quite some while. Surprisingly the game starts off with a pretty big bang, like the movies usually do. With a distress call from the Nova Corps asking for assistance to fend off an attack from The Mad Titan Thanos, we get thrown into the chaos which is the Guardians signature introduction as it seems. With about a third of the crew wanting to kill Thanos, I was surprised to see that by half way through the first episode that is exactly what happens. Having one of the universe’s biggest threats checked off the list, I was wondering what angle they would have for the rest of the story and what was going to happen.
I’m not going to go into full detail of where the story will go but nonetheless I’m excited to see how the next chapters will play out. If you’re interested I’d say definitely pick it up and play it for yourself, because the Telltale series of games have always been quiet enjoyable and emotionally it’s always been a big roller coaster ride. Episode 2 is out today, so it’ll give you guys a chance to really get sucked into Telltale’s version of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
