CES 2025: Samsung Odyssey 3D: Glasses-Free 3D Monitor Impresses

Samsung has turned its prototype from last year into reality with the unveiling of the Odyssey 3D, a glasses-free 3D monitor that takes immersive gaming and entertainment to the next level. Showcased at CES 2025, the Odyssey 3D has come a long way since its First Look debut, delivering a truly innovative approach to 3D display technology.

Unlike other glasses-free 3D solutions that rely on game-specific integrations (like SpatialLabs), the Odyssey 3D uses light field display (LFD) technology to create 3D visuals from standard 2D content. This is achieved through a lenticular lens on the front panel, which splits the image for each eye to simulate a 3D effect. A built-in stereo camera and constant view mapping ensure the 3D illusion remains seamless, even as your eyes move around the screen.

The monitor also doubles as a high-performance 2D display, featuring a 27-inch 4K panel, 165Hz refresh rate, and 1ms response time, making it an excellent choice for gaming or professional use.

Some key details, such as port options, release date, and pricing, are still under wraps, but the Odyssey 3D promises to be a game-changer in display technology. While it’s likely to carry a premium price tag, Samsung’s glasses-free 3D innovation is shaping up to be one of the most exciting announcements at CES 2025. Stay tuned as we eagerly await more details!
