Injustice gets Man of Steel movie DLC

Warner Bros has just announced that Injustice will receive a Man of Steel Superman skin from the newly released Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ feature film “Man of Steel.” The movie in its opening weekend has earned more then $150million which is breaking June records and only makes sense. The dlc is set to release in July and you’ll find a pic below of what he looks like. We’re not 100% if this captures the Man of Steel from the movie well as I have personally seen it. Looks like they did a better job with the “Arrow” tv show skin for Green Arrow then this but what do you guys think?

Xbox One evening the playing field? Still don’t think so

1

Now that Microsoft has decided to drop the DRM and online activation, does it stand a chance against the Playstation 4? Honestly I don’t think it will, and it’s too little too late for Microsoft to really capture their audience again like they once did in the short term. Yes bad press can be good press at times but I don’t think this press did Microsoft any good, afterall you only get one chance to really wow your initial core customers. Sony has pretty much done it correctly from the get go with the PS4, but is it because it’s been through so many rough patches that it’s finally learning to listen to customers?

Sony had plenty of problems with the PS3 and they still persist. The inability to cross chat, constant firmware updates, the last of which are bricking consoles and performance issues have all held them back from being on top. Much of the reason people deal with/accepted these problems from the start was the wave/high brought from the PS2 which gave them the momentum but that same momentum is what led them to believe the PS3 was the master of all systems. From the start Sony wanted to make it up to gamers in the best way they could, build a machine for them and solely them. It only benefited them to be the heroes after Microsoft was clearly looking like the enemies with all there restrictions as well.

Microsoft is in a similar situation that Sony was 8 years ago. Riding the Xbox 360 wave Microsoft believed from the start that the new Xbox One would be the console everyone would flock too and accept no matter what was in it, what it costs or what was being taken away and they are now starting to realize it doesn’t work that way.

While this announcement to change the DRM, internet connection and region policies should be nothing but good news, it does remove some features that were first touted from the Xbox One’s reveal. People will no longer have the ability to access their games anywhere from the cloud. You can now only take the physical disc with you to actually share or play anywhere. Sharing amongst a network of friends is also not available for physical or digital games of any kind. What people should look at however is that these new policies can be revisited later on as the market, technology and knowledge of it changes. A small example is digital games or games installed on the console from the disk could theoretically be accessed from your account signed into another console but to do so there could be a internet check every so often.

At the end of the day both consoles will have great games at release, and they both look great but there is $100 price difference between the two, the higher being Xbox One which comes with a camera. So which console will you be buying now that the playing field has been slightly leveled? What makes you want to buy one over the other?

Xbox One’s DRM and Mandatory Internet connection dropped confirmed

1

Looks like the rumors this morning of the possibility of Microsoft dropping the Xbox One’s used games policy and 24hour internet check is true. Several outlets have gone on a rumor that started earlier but Microsofts official website for Xbox news has confirmed the story. While this is certainly a huge back peddle and PR disaster from the start. Below is the actual subtext taken which explains what has been changed. Will this be enough to hold off the ever growing pre-orders for PS4 over the Xbox One? Let us know your thoughts.

  • An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games– After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
  • Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console — there will be no regional restrictions.

PS3 update 4.45 locking out users, pulled until further notice

If you’ve been on your Playstation 3 system within the past day or so, you’ll find that there is a new update to the firmware of the system. In order to do various things, an update to the system is required. However, gamers are reporting that the update has bricked their systems.

The update, 4.45, was supposed to allow for users to shut off trophy notifications and improve “system stability.” More than 100 pages of users reporting problems with their system shows up on this thread in the Playstation community forum. Many users seem to be experiencing the same problems and some show concern of systems bricking and their system being out of a warranty. At least one user has reported a fix that required using an older hard drive he had lying around in order to re-update their console via USB.

Though the problem has been going on, it has not been addressed by neither the Playstation twitter nor their Facebook page. It has, however, been addressed within the community. Digital Platforms Community Manager Morgan Haro (user “mochuuu” in the forum) has addressed the issue in a separate thread. Haro reports that the 4.45 update has been removed for the time being in order to figure out what has been causing the issue that some PS3 owners have been having. Updates for their progress will appear on his thread.

Haro also provided a brief Q&A for users who have experienced an issued with the system:
Q1. I updated my PS3 to version 4.45, and now the XMB is not being displayed and I cannot play anything on my system. Why?
We are currently conducting investigations to determine the cause of this problem. We will announce further information, including additional updates, when ready.

Q2. Version 4.45 has been taken off line, but if users have already updated to the new version and they are experiencing problems, what can they do?
We kindly ask PS3 users to wait for further details. We will announce when ready.

Q3. Were you not able to predict that such an issue may occur?Do you perform appropriate verification tests before releasing updates?
SCE constantly performs appropriate verifications tests for system software updates, and strives to improve and offer quality service.
We are currently conducting investigations to determine the cause of this problem. We will announce further information, including additional updates, when ready.

Q6. I read in the web that the PS3 system with 500GB HDD were affected. Is this true?
We are currently conducting investigations to determine the cause of this problem.

Q7. Have you already found a solution to this problem?
We kindly ask PS3 users to wait for further details. We will announce when ready.

Q8. How are the customer service teams responding to consumer inquiries right now?
We kindly ask PS3 users to wait for further details. We will announce when ready.

Remember Me review

Remember Me brings many concepts to light. What if we lived in a time where memory can be stored and recollected? What if we can gain access to new memories? In this futuristic world the premise is not only pretty clear but it’s pretty good as well. Somehow the limitation of exploration makes you not really think of this further then a pipe dream but the rest of the games faults becomes easier to spot as a result.

You are Nillin, a girl who has just had her entire memory wiped and as you dive into why this happens, the chain reaction of events and help you receive become evident that something is clearly going on. The most interesting portions of the game is when you have to initiate Memory Remixing. This basically enables you to channel someones inner thoughts to a single memory and change the outcome of events that’ll lead them to believe the altered memory actually happened. Throughout this sequence you can put objects out of place or order to directly effect what will happen, resulting in some very interesting scenarios. Issue here is they are very far and in between. It feels like they’ve only scratched the surface of this type of gameplay.
remember-me-review3
Aside Memory Remixing the combat in the game seems like it has a good thing going for it. You fill in several combos with hits you unlock which will give you various bonuses for doing so. The ability to heal, deal more damage, gain skill points and double the output of a combo. The problem here is there isn’t that many at all, making the combat feel somewhat repetitive after awhile. You also gain special skills which will give you a burst of power in the form of S-Pressens. Unblockable combos, distorting all electronics and taking over them to name a few. Their is a separate meter that allows you to do this which can be regained after some time.

Remember Me does some things right, the futuristic Paris setting is gorgeous to look at. The combat makes you feel like your actually a highly trained fighter when aligning your skills and doing the big ticket combos. They ad some climbing to get between areas as well. There are sections where the game is graphically impressive as well but with its linear gameplay makes the city feel so out of reach.
remember-me-review1
It’s crazy but I really enjoyed the time I had with Remember Me. It’s not forgettable.. no pun intended and with some challenge along the way made everything feel very smooth and Bourne Identity-ish but I think I’m also hanging on to the game that could have been more then the game that is. It has a lot of promise and with a sequel could truly be something special but what you have here is a shell of that promise which might not make it to the next iteration all by itself.

Xbox One games to remain $60, no price increase

0

Many questions still plague not only Xbox One but next generation in general. One big question was pricing for games to come. From the last generation to this There was a $10 price increase from $50 which didn’t settle well but with this generation of games costing so much more to produce it wasn’t long before we got used to the idea. Another price increase would put us at a $70 price tag for games which is steep but Jack Tretton has already come out and said that PS4 games should cost between $0.99-$60. Microsoft has now followed suit and has said that Xbox One games will remain $60.

We’re not sure if there are other price models in place as free-to play will be a much more frequent topic then last but rest assured that you should not be paying more for your standard games.

EA’s online pass program to end for future titles, current game elimination in progress

In an attempt to fight back against used video game retailers such as GameStop and Best Buy, Electronic Arts (EA) created an online pass program that required players to input a code found in new games in order to access any online multiplayer content and roster updates (for sports games).

EA’s President of EA Labels Frank Gibeau told Joystiq that “[the online pass is] dead, it’s dead, it’s deep-sixed, it’s at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.” He told Joystiq that the idea of having players input codes to get online with their games was “flat out dumb.” With the extinction of the codes, EA has been working throughout the last couple of weeks to eliminate the necessity for the passes for their games, first to games on the Xbox 360.

The elimination of this program brings joy to gamers due to the trouble it has caused them. Gamers have asked since the program’s start in 2010 for the removal of the program because it was cumbersome to use in some cases. Why remove the program now? “The amount of money that we made…didn’t replace the amount of frustration we put on our customers and it didn’t offset the reputation damage it caused the company. So we said ‘it’s not worth it,’ and so the idea was, look, ‘don’t do stuff like that anymore,'” Gibeau told Joystiq.

GameStop normally priced pre-owned, new-release games at $47.99 to take into consideration the online pass needed to play the game. Now that the program is over, it will be interesting to see the prices of those games go back up.

The EA Sports Online Pass website has yet to reflect the changes on its initial site, but clicking over to the FAQ shows the information that the program has ended.

For all of our new EA games, Online Pass will no longer be needed or included.

For previously-released EA games that required an Online Pass, we are in the process of eliminating it from those games as well. For some games, the prompt to enter an Online Pass code will no longer appear; for others, you will still need to download and install an Online Pass, but they will be available free of charge from your console’s marketplace.

EA removing the program is a giant step for those wanting to play any one of their pre-owned games, but it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the online pass program for good. Ubisoft has used the pass in their games as well, and there has been no word yet on whether or not they have eliminated their program as well. Just know the program isn’t coming back for EA, a company that was not well-received in a recent poll, “we’re not going to replace [the online pass program]. It’s not coming back. It’s dead,” Gibeau said.

With the removal of the program, some games’ additional content has become available for download in the Xbox 360 marketplace or the Playstation Network. A list was created of the EA games for Xbox 360 that had free content once withheld due to the program. Some of the links, however, do seem to be broken.

A couple more were added by user Vert boil:

Here is a list of the Playstation titles.

Xbox One’s Killer Instinct will be a work in progress even after launch

Fun and frantic is what this game is but even at E3 with only five months till the game is launched not all animations, characters, modes and moves have been finalized or even discussed. When speaking to Microsoft Creative Director Ken Lobb and David Verfaillie, Design Director from Double Helix at E3 have both said there will be three options of which Killer Instinct can be purchased. The first being a pay for each character model, people will receive Jago as the only playable character and can play any section of the game with him for free and if they choose can by more characters to their liking. The second will be a Season-Pass model which will allow you to get everything the game will have to offer as it comes out. The third will be a special edition of the Season-Pass that will give you bonus content.

When questioned if bosses would be in the game they could only clarify that they are not working towards a finished product but refining the game over time. They want to make the best experience and the dream scenario would be to keep working on Killer Instinct years out.

killer-instinct-xbox-one-glacier

With a couple other statements it seems clear that not all characters will be available come launch and this is more like stages of a project that started not to long ago. Being that they will keep announcing a new character for each up coming event, the next being EVO 2013. There aren’t too many leading up till November that characters can get announced but some have already been ruled out but not for good just for 2013 which is interesting to hear. We’ll have more updates on how much is planning to actually launch come November and how long this will take afterward.

What do you guys think, should this game have been released when done or could this be a new way games can be released in the future?
