Scribblenauts launch party at Nintendo World

scribblenauts12

Nintendo’s launch party for Scribblenauts was this Sunday and the Lvlone crew was there to get a chance to buy the game early, meet the creative minds behind the game and eat some Scribblenauts themed cake.
Nintendo only does launch parties for really big games like Wii Sports Resort, and Pokemon titles. However the big N decided to change things up a little and throw a party for a brand new IP and a very original one at that. Nintendo really went above and beyond to promote Scribblenauts, every DS kiosk on the floor had a playable copy of the game and there several attendants walking around passing out free prizes. Free items included Scribblenauts themed pins, yo-yos, and of course notepads. Unforutnally by the time we got there they had ran out of the free red hats that Maxwell, the main character wears in the game. After trying out the game and mingling a little we bought our copies, but the party wasn’t done yet. We went upstairs to the second floor and got our copies of the game signed by the creative team behind Scribblenauts. Finally as a finale to the whole event a giant cake in the shape of Maxwell was cut and passed around to attendees, the cake was indeed tasty.
Overall the launch party was pretty cool, it was really crowded at Nintendo World but not so much that there was a line out the door as I originally thought, it was a perfect sized event for a brand new title. People of all ages were there many of them wearing those red hats and virtually everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Younger kids were playing their DSs showing each other how they solved a scenario in the game, while parents talked about how interesting and fun the game was. The Scribblenauts launch party at Nintendo World may not have been the biggest gaming related event but it was still a great time, more companies should promote their new games like Nintendo does.
Check out the image gallery below to see the sights of the event, also some unrelated Scribblenauts including a badass Link statue.

All You Need is Downloadable Content

Within hours of the release of The Beatles Rock Band, a downloadable track was available on XBox live.  “All You Need is Love” is available for download with a portion of the proceeds going to the charity Doctors Without Boarders.

But where are the other songs?  There was talks about having two fully downloadable albums available and yet nothing is up… yet.  I think it’s a great idea to have All You Need is Love available not only for download, but for charity, but why only exclusive to XBbox Live users?  What about the PSN users?  I know that I personally would download the song, and the fact that it’s for charity furthers my want for it.

I hope they decide to add more DC for The Beatles Rock Band and soon.  The game stands up on its own no doubt, but any chance for extra material in the game is always welcome.
