Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection – Nostalgia at its finest!

0

I clearly remember walking over to the nearby laundromat, not to clean any clothes, but to meet up with neighborhood friends to play Marvel vs. Capcom. Thanks to Capcom, I have been reliving the feeling of playing with my friends again, thanks to the recent release of the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Game Collection. This collection assembles seven iconic titles that not only shaped the fighting game genre but also brought together beloved characters from Marvel and Capcom. It is not a remaster or remake, but simply a re-release.

Capcom has previously released collection series for many of its other great titles, including Mega Man, Street Fighter, and the Capcom Fighting series. The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection includes X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and The Punisher. Each game made an iconic impact within the classic Vs. series.

First, we have X-Men: Children of the Atom, which was released in 1994 and was revolutionary for its time. The game pioneered the concept of air combos, allowing players to launch opponents into the air and continue attacking them. Marvel Super Heroes followed in 1995 and introduced the innovative Infinity Gems system, enabling players to collect gems during fights that granted special powers, like increased damage or invulnerability.

Next is X-Men vs. Street Fighter, which debuted in 1996. This title marked the first official crossover between Marvel and Capcom, introducing players to a unique tag-team mechanic that allowed for dynamic team combinations. This was the first time players could switch characters mid-fight.

One of my favorites is Marvel vs. Street Fighter, released in 1997. It introduced a new tag-team system that allowed for assist mechanics. Marvel vs. Capcom 1 launched in 1998, establishing the concept of three-on-three battles by allowing players to select two characters to control and a random assist character.

My favorite of the bunch is, of course, Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Released in 2000, it is often regarded as the pinnacle of the series, renowned for its expansive roster of 56 characters and refined gameplay mechanics. Players can choose three characters, with each character having their own assist.

All of these games (including The Punisher) have their respective English and Japanese versions. Besides the original titles, the games offer a training mode for practice, and all characters are available, including secret ones. Shadow Lady is one of my favorite secret characters, and it’s great to finally use her. The collection also features a museum archive of art and music from these classic titles.

Additionally, all the fighting game titles include online play, allowing for casual, ranked, or custom room matches. I found the online connection to be solid, but matchmaking was sometimes frustrating. I waited several minutes just to find a match. My experience with ranked matches felt fairly balanced. There were moments when I could tell who had played this game two decades ago and who was new to the Marvel universe. Getting spammed by Cable, anti air by Psylocke was a fresh breath of air I haven’t had in a while. Playing online was a breath of fresh air, and while I ranked up slowly, I hoped to bump into the infamous Wazzler—unfortunately, no luck.

There are different online settings for players who find the game imbalanced (and it can be). Capcom thoughtfully added features to enhance the experience for those unfamiliar with the quirks of Marvel games. These titles are known for their fast-paced action, high damage, and occasionally unbreakable infinite combos. While all these features remind me of my childhood, you can disable certain aspects, like Juggernaut’s power buff bug, by turning off the “Cyttorak Power-Up.” This prevents getting caught in assists or supers that can eliminate you in one hit. I know many people who aren’t avid Marvel fans due to the game’s balance issues. Adding these features shows that if this game were released today, Capcom would likely fix bugs quickly.

Let’s not forget the seventh title in this collection, The Punisher. Released in 1993, it is a unique addition that deviates from the traditional fighting game format, offering a side-scrolling beat ’em up experience. This game is fun as you get to play as both Punisher and Nick Fury. However, it does not include online gameplay, which would have been a nice addition since all the other titles feature online play. Luckily, I could still enjoy the game’s cooperative mode.

I feel like an old timer saying this, but (old man voice) ” back in my day this is what me and the boys would do”. This collection truly embodies nostalgia. The music, characters, and overall feel transport me back to a time I never wanted to leave. I will never forget the solo training sessions, wild matches, and the excitement surrounding the era in which these games were released. Capcom did a fantastic job encapsulating this in the *Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Game Collection*. It is a must-have for fighting game fans and comic book enthusiasts alike. With fighting games at an all-time high, this collection only heightens our anticipation for a new title in the Vs. series. Despite the stellar lineup and solid online features, I wish the matchmaking were more reliable. This collection celebrates two beloved universes and is sure to keep players engaged for hours. Whether you’re revisiting these classics or experiencing them for the first time, this collection stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Marvel and Capcom in the gaming world.

We had the chance to try out the Razer Freyja at CES earlier this year, and it left a strong impression. Upcoming games like Final Fantasy XVI have partnered with Sensa HD haptics, and we can’t wait to dive in and break down how the Razer Freyja enhances the gameplay experience.

The Razer Freyja is set to release soon, so it’s time to start considering which gaming chair you’ll pair it with. Chun Li and Ken Entering City of Wolves! The Hint We’ve Been Looking For?

0

SNK dropped a bombshell on the fighting game community. With the release of Terry Bogard in Street Fighter 6 this week, players have been having a blast enjoying the popular Fatal Fury character in the Street Fighter franchise. Terry comes from the famous fighting game series Fatal Fury. Mai Shiranui is also set to be the next guest character in the street fighter 6 series. The first of its kind, this gave us fans hope that we would get some form of collaboration between Capcom and SNK more often.

On September 26, 2024, SNK announced two new characters and an official release date for their upcoming title, Fatal Fury: City of Wolves. This game already has a stacked roster, visuals, and gameplay that have us fans wanting more. The City of Wolves title will be giving us the fan service we asked for with the official release of two of Capcom’s iconic characters. Street Fighter’s Chun-Li and Ken Masters are crossing over to the Fatal Fury franchise. They are getting rid of the Drive System and switching over to the Rev System, making this crossover happen in a main Fatal Fury series for the first time. This leads to huge potential for the brand and maybe even the long-asked-for Capcom vs. SNK 3.

Fatal Fury maintains a generational legacy as a fighting game, spanning over three decades. Its popularity is well-rooted in the fighting game community, and fans have been awaiting a new title. Fatal Fury: City of Wolves will now release on March 24, 2025. Having Terry Bogard was a step in the right direction for bringing more players familiar with the SNK series. That announcement alone drove fans to anticipate the upcoming titles even more. Now, with the announcement of the famous Street Fighter characters in the new game, this is going to not only increase sales (hopefully) but also bring a new contender to this big fighting game rivalry that is now unfolding.

  • DLC Character 1 (Scheduled for: Summer 2025)
  • DLC Character: KEN (Scheduled for: Summer 2025)
  • DLC Character 3 (Scheduled for: Fall 2025)
  • DLC Character: CHUN-LI (Scheduled for: Winter 2025)
  • DLC Character 5 (Scheduled for: Early 2026)

Check out the full trailer here

Fatal Fury will now join its competitors with the release of their new title, joining Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Mortal Kombat with a modern release. The collaboration leads to great things as fans are asking for a new Capcom vs. SNK 3. Considered to be one of the best fighting games ever, Capcom vs. SNK 2 was a masterpiece of its time. Even so, Capcom recently announced the release of Capcom’s Fighting Game Collection 2, which will include the title. These recent announcements and the release of Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, Capcom’s Fighting Game Collection 2, and now Chun-Li and Ken give us fans hope that new titles are in the near future.

Regardless, this is a step in the right direction for both franchises, but especially for the Fatal Fury series as it seeks to reach out to a modern audience.

Street Fighter 6′ Terry Bogard Impressions – Ultimate Fan Service

0

Terry Bogard’s recent entry as a guest character in Street Fighter 6 is a long time coming. This isn’t Mr. Bogards first time making an appearance as a guest character in a fighting game series. However, as the first character from outside the Capcom universe to join the roster, this crossover not only adds excitement but also highlights the creative collaboration between SNK and Capcom. We can only hope for Capcom vs SNK 3, and having Terry in Street fighter 6 is a step in the right direction. Fans are in for a treat as Terry brings his Fatal Fury flair to the innovative drive mechanics of Street Fighter 6.

Just looking at the select screen, it screams nostalgia. The moment you select Terry, it’s obvious he’s a powerhouse. His design fits perfectly within the Street Fighter universe while still honoring his Fatal Fury roots. The visuals are stunning, as he was designed with Capcom’s RE Engine and his animations feel smooth, making him a joy to control by maintaining his moves from the SNK series.

At first, you might assume Terry follows the typical Shotokan style—think Ryu, Ken, or Akuma. However, he’s actually more similar to Luke in playstyle. Terry is an all-around character with strong neutral buttons and decent zoning tools. He’s no longer a charge character, so you will have to get used to different inputs for him. His Power Wave might not be the best for winning zoning battles, but it’s a solid way to initiate offense. Once you get into the rhythm, Terry can easily navigate around opponents and create openings.

One of the standout features of Terry’s gameplay is his ability to deal serious damage and the use of his unique attacks. His combos are not just flashy; they hit hard, letting players capitalize on mistakes. The Burning Knuckle is particularly effective for corner carry and setting up mix-ups, wall bounces, and giving players plenty of options to keep the pressure on. His custom combo passing sway is unique, because he is the only character to step outside the 2D place, creating some unpredictability that makes him a challenging opponent with 2 follow ups options.

What really makes Terry shine in Street Fighter 6 is how he adapts to the new Drive System. While he retains the classic moves that fans love, he also incorporates the game’s fresh mechanics very well. Keeping some of his famous SNK moves, Terry still has his buster wolf loops, rising tackle is still a great anti air. He has a lot of specials, and unique attacks. These extra tools help his adaptability to open up creative combo extensions and strategic options, making him a great pick for both newcomers and old street fighter fans that need fresh air.

Adding to the excitement is the buzz around SNK’s upcoming Fatal Fury title, City of Wolves. This context not only enriches Terry’s character but also gives his moves a fresh twist that resonates with players. From my 1 day experience, Terry Bogard’s inclusion in Street Fighter 6 is more than just a novelty; it’s a sign of how fighting games continue to evolve. It’s hard to say if he’s the best character in Street Fighter 6 but his presence definitely enhances the gameplay and brings together two beloved franchises. As we continue to explore his strengths and develop new strategies, I think Terry players will find that mastering Terry is an exhilarating experience. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the series, Terry’s role in Street Fighter 6 is sure to keep the competitive spirit alive.

Black Myth: Wukong Review + Game Enhance Guide

0

If there’s one game that has truly captured my attention this year, it’s Black Myth: Wu Kong. Without a doubt, it has set a new bar for immersive storytelling, jaw-dropping visuals, and engaging gameplay. Whether you’re a fan of Chinese folklore or just love a good action-packed RPG, this game delivers on every front, making it one of the most memorable gaming experiences of 2024.

From the moment you step into the world of Black Myth: Wu Kong, you’re treated to a visual spectacle like no other. The game draws deeply from Chinese mythology, weaving its rich lore into vibrant landscapes that are both vast and intricately detailed. Every environment feels alive, from lush forests and towering mountains to ancient temples and mystical caves. The attention to detail is staggering, making every corner of the game world worth exploring.

What really elevates the experience, though is the use of DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) settings for this. With NVIDIA’s AI-powered acceleration through DLSS Frame Generation and Full Ray Tracing. The game looks stunning but runs great, even when the screen is packed with intense action and particle effects. Finding the perfect settings took a bit of trial and error, but once dialed in, the combination of smooth performance and razor-sharp visuals makes for an unforgettable experience.

For those with an NVIDIA 30 or 40 series card, maximizing your settings is an absolute must. To fully experience the visual brilliance of this game, head into SETTINGS, go to GRAPHICS, and enable DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation. Don’t forget to crank up the Ray Tracing settings to Very High for that jaw-dropping level of detail, especially during intense battles. The particle effects and real-time reflections truly shine when everything is running at full power.

Black Myth: Wu Kong offers more than just eye candy. The gameplay is equally engaging, with fast-paced, fluid combat that keeps you on your toes. Drawing on the legendary story of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, the game masterfully combines traditional mythological elements with modern RPG mechanics with heavy inspiration coming from Dark Sous, Elden Ring and others. The combat system is a real standout, offering a variety of skills, transformations, and weapons to keep things fresh.

While Black Myth: Wu Kong nails most aspects of the gameplay experience, it’s not entirely without minor flaws. A few mapping glitches pop up here and there, but they’re easy to overlook when weighed against the sheer scope and beauty of the game. I also wish the main character had more personality as well and is not simply just a vessel. These minor issues are far from deal-breakers and don’t detract from the overall enjoyment.

The game is also chock full of secrets, traversing isn’t the easiest when it comes to being guided but that would be familiar to sun that are used to these types of games, what you have here is something that takes its time into having you experience the world it build and while not fully open world it comes close.

Simply put, Black Myth: Wu Kong is a masterpiece. It has redefined what I expect from modern action RPGs, with its stunning visuals, deep storytelling, and adrenaline-pumping combat. If you’ve got the hardware to support it, be sure to push those settings to the max—DLSS and ray tracing truly make this game shine.

This is a must-play for anyone who loves rich, mythological narratives paired with cutting-edge gameplay. I’m far from done exploring its world, and I can’t wait to dive back in for more. If you’re ready for an epic adventure, Black Myth: Wu Kong is the game to beat this year.
