Call of Duty is back. Activision has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
This is not a soft announcement. There’s a reveal trailer, pre-orders are live, and the full campaign details are out and we actually got to check out some of the footage at Fanatics Fest 2026 this year.
North Korea launches a full-scale invasion. A young South Korean soldier named Private Park is dropped into the front lines with his squad, with no preparation and nowhere to run. Half a world away, Captain Price is running a personal war from the shadows, operating outside official channels after the collapse of Task Force 141.
It sounds like two campaigns stitched together. The Korean War setting gives the series something it hasn’t had in a while: a conflict that feels genuinely unfamiliar. Most people know surprisingly little about the Korean Peninsula, which gives the writers room to build something without leaning on historical nostalgia. Trench warfare in Korea, close-quarters combat in New York, SAS raids in Mumbai, and city-wide assaults are all listed as campaign environments.
Captain Price returns, which will divide opinion as it always does. Some players see him as comfort food. Others want something new. This looks like a compromise: Price is there, but he’s not the center of the story.
The Standard Edition is $69.99. The Vault Edition is $99.99 and includes a full Battle Pass, 100+ rewards, operator skins, blueprints, and COD Points. If you’ve played any premium Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare 2019, or have active Game Pass Ultimate, you can pre-order the Vault Edition at a 10% discount, bringing it to $89.99.
Worth noting: Modern Warfare 4 will not be on Game Pass at launch.

The game is coming to Switch 2, which continues to be a meaningful platform for third-party publishers. The fact that a graphically demanding Call of Duty title is day-and-date on Nintendo’s hardware is a real statement about where that console sits.
The framework of this one look right and had me itching to play the campaign and multiplayer more than any other Call of Duty before this. The questions are all about execution and we’re looking to dive in on release.
