PAX East 2022: Top Games Roundup

Pax East found its return this year and while some of the major studios were missing it wasn’t light of games that happen to be gems we couldn’t forget. Below are some of the best games we got hands on with experience and can’t wait to play more of!

Dolmen
A game that puts players onto a hostile alien world known as Revion Prime, the game plays like a combination of Dead Spaces and Dark Souls in which it was heavily influenced from. The demo pit you in a portion of the game that would technically have you pretty far into the game, with that said the difficulty level was pretty ramped up! Like Dark Souls games if you played them in more then a casual setting then you know it took a couple of tries to continue to progress in the game but we found our way! The one thing we liked most was the games look which felt unique, futuristic and gritty. We’re looking forward to playing more with a later build or when the game is releasing!

TMNT Shredders Revenge
The Ninja Turtles is back, paying homage to TMNT Turtles in Time game from the 90’s this brings them back in a side scrolling beat-em up in the classic 80’s arcade pixel art style that we’ve missed. This was created by experts at Dotemu (Streets of Rage 4) and Tribute Games (part of the studio used to work on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game and TMNT Game Boy Advance). The features we noticed is the new moves all the characters are sporting, new characters like April O’neal and Master Splinter and being able to do moves with each other. This game will feature couch and online 4 player co-op and can’t wait to get our hands on it!

Have a Nice Death
This beautiful 2D action rogue like game had us stunned at how good it looked. You play Death, CEO of Death Incorporated, who currently finds himself teetering on the edge of burnout. His top executives, the Sorrows, have been running rampant on Earth’s surface, leaving him buried in an underworld-sized mountain of paperwork in which he just can’t take it anymore. Very reminiscent of games like Dead Cells but with a arsenal to collect at your disposal while bringing humor and challenge to the game.

Moonscar
PAX spared no expense at brining challenging games and this was one of them. Very much a castlevania like game, this push the limits of your combat skills, and master new abilities to progress through an unforgiving nonlinear 2D world. Face off against the relentless darkness that seeks to destroy you. In Moonscars, every death is a lesson learnt—and as you overcome each challenge, new truths will be revealed. All of this while having an amazing pixel art style which brings that world to life

No longer human
This high-energy side scrolling action game was one of the more intense we’ve played at the show. This game gives me Katana Zero vibes which has a really similar psychedelic experience on what is real and what might not be real.Freeform combat that encourages aggressive, stylish play and we loved it, We’ll be looking at how this shapes up in the future!

Asterigos: Curse of the Stars
Asterigos takes you on a journey with a brave young warrior Hilda, from the Northwind Legion who embarks on a journey to the cursed city in order to save her lost father. Very reminiscent of Zelda games this action adventure RPG is coming out of a new studio with a lot of potential as the game looks great already. With that said gameplay elements are also inspired by souls like games alongside a lighter, dynamic combat system, create a fresh take on the modern action RPG genre, providing you with a harmonious difficulty and exploration balance. We’ll see how this plays out in future builds!

Their were honestly too many games to list and we’ll be getting the chance to check out more of them as they come out in early access and closer to release to stream and review! Stay connected with also with all the latest and let us know what you might be most looking forward to below!
