Visceral Games announced today that the Dead Space franchise will continue with Dead Space 2. Hero Isaac Clarke returns for another adventure, this time taking the fight to the Necromorphs. New tools to gruesomely slice and dismember the Necromorphs complement Isaac’s signature Plasma Cutter, empowering him as he meets new characters, explores epic Zero-G environments, and fights against a relentless necromorph onslaught. Survival isn’t the only thing on Isaac’s mind in Dead Space 2 – this time, he calls the shots. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters this time. Dead Space 2 is to appear at some time in 2010 on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Croteam and Devolver Digital today announced that Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will be unleashed in early 2010 for PC and home console. Following in the tradition of The First Encounter, the game will feature all the insane action of the original game but with visuals beautifully rendered to current standards.
Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will also feature an all new Co-Op Tournament mode that will allow teams to compete with one another. And there’s good reason for everyone to practice up. At the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China – an event expected to draw more visitors than any world’s fair before it – The Second Encounter will be a main attraction, allowing teams to compete for the Digital Youth Award, which promotes the values of creativity, culture, friendship, education and unity.
If anyone can remember some time ago their was a football videogame movie that was making the rounds on the internet and on XPlay claiming to be in game footage. The game is featuring NaturalMotion’s acclaimed euphoria motion synthesis engine featured in a sports title for the very first time. Today it has been announced that 505 Games will publish it with a targeted release for Spring 2010 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Backbreaker is full-on 11-versus-11 competitive play, and also includes online multiplayer and split-screen multiplayer modes. In addition, the game features total team customization including a fully featured logo editor. If anyone remembers back in August, we posted that Ubisoft was accepting applications to be apart of the RUSE beta, the RTS that pits gamers into command of world conflict. That day has arrived and beta codes have started going out to registered users (including ourselves) as the beta starts today. The beta is available on steam and will let players control this RTS like a chess board, using your body and hand gestures for commands. We’ll give you our impressions as soon as we download it.

THQ released a new Hellbook trailer for Darksiders, the game set in a post apocalyptic world from the war between heaven and hell. This game borrows from action titles like God of War and Devil May Cry and check the game out when it hits store shelves this January 2010.
For those of you who don’t keep track of the Japanese Video Game marketplace the DSi LL or DSi XL as it’s dubbed in North America went on sale to a surprisingly enthusiastic Japan. The portable gaming device sold a little over 100,000 units, much higher than many thought the oversized machine would sell.
In comparison the PSPGo an ironically smaller version of its original handheld sold about 28,000 in it’s first day and the DSi sold about 170,000 units. It seems as though bigger is better when it comes to handhelds, in Japan at least.
After a first game that was not praised by the press in general though it was definitely not all bad, Eidos’ two tough guys are officially back in a sequel. Kane and Lynch: Dog Days will be released in 2010 and, provided the developers manage to improve the gameplay and the longevity of the game without forgetting to add an online coop mode this time, it might come out as a nice surprise in the end.
As the Virtual Console hits it’s 3rd birthday one of the biggest titles has been released for the online service. Super Mario Kart which was originally well over 15 years ago is now avaliable for download at 800 Wii points. For those who want to relive the past of the SNES glory days, you can’t do better than this title, Super Mario Kart was the original kart racer and literally created the sub-genre of racing games.
For those who might be younger and haven’t experienced it should consider downloading the game, it surprising has held up well over the years, which perhaps goes to show how right this game got it the first time.
