A Peak at VibraCool

At Pepcom NYC 2024, amidst a flurry of innovative tech discoveries, one healthcare device stood out for
its simplicity and profound versatility: “The VibraCool”, brought to life by Pain Care Labs, a division of
MMJ Labs LLC. Founded in 2006 by Dr. Amy Baxter, a trailblazing pediatric emergency doctor and pain
researcher, Pain Care Labs has revolutionized pain management with VibraCool, a device originally
engineered to ease the discomfort of vaccinations.

Dr. Baxter’s work in vibrational therapy and pain reduction was honored with the prestigious 2020
Tibbets Award from the NIH and SBA, along with securing 14 patents. Her vision for non-opioid pain
relief options gained widespread attention after a colleague substituted Buzzy, one of her inventions, for
OxyContin following knee surgery. Dr. Baxter’s compelling TED talk in 2023 underscored the urgency for
alternatives to opioids, encapsulating her message with #OptionsNotOpioids.

VibraCool devices, cleared by the FDA, have emerged as a treatment for pain sufferers. Combining
cryotherapy with vibration therapy, they offer multifaceted relief for various conditions, including
orthopedic injuries, edema, and post-surgical recovery. The integration of cryotherapy and vibration
addresses inflammation and stiffness while promoting blood flow and muscle fiber separation.

Studies validating VibraCool’s efficacy abound. A recent investigation into its impact on post-ACL
reconstruction surgery pain and opioid usage revealed promising results. Patients using VibraCool
experienced significantly lower opioid intake and comparable pain levels compared to traditional pain
management methods. This finding underscores the potential of VibraCool as a safe and effective
alternative to opioid painkillers.

My personal current testimony further corroborate VibraCool’s effectiveness. As a NYS and Board
Certified Massage Therapist, I integrated VibraCool into my treatment regimen for a few tennis players
suffering from golfer’s elbow. The device’s gel packs and quick use design facilitated the easy
application, while the soothing vibration enhanced the overall therapeutic experience for my client.
Early feedback thus far has been overwhelmingly positive, affirming VibraCool’s role in pain
management.

As of now, VibraCool represents a paradigm shift in pain relief technology, cryotherapy is common but
offering a holistic approach to pain management that prioritizes safety, efficacy, and patient comfort is
original. As healthcare professionals and individuals alike continue to seek alternatives to pain
management and opioid medication, VibraCool emerges as a potential go to, offering relief and
empowerment in the fight against pain. Not only so, I have found some other uses for manual therapist
that I’ll share in a future review.
