Activision questions PS3 support

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has recently said in an invertview with The Times that “I’m getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don’t make it easy for me to support the platform. It’s expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better.” Kotick later offically called for a PS3 price drop.

It would seem that the CEO of Activision may have a point, the PS3 is still $399, the most expensive current console by far. The $399 price might not seem like much but consider that this is Activision, their biggest selling franchise is Guitar Hero, a peripheral based game. The extra costs of such peripherals makes buying the PS3 version of the game much more expensive, especially when we’re talking about band games that reach $170 themselves. Buying a PS3 with any Guitar Hero game can easily reach over $500, in comparison buying a Wii or Xbox 360 with Guitar Hero can be done with around $350.
