 
Addictive yet difficult! A good way to describe the experience you’ll have while climbing over ramps, exploding barrels and other obstacles. Essentially a time attack game, Trials HD, makes it seem as if you want to throw the controller across the room from time to time. Yet, you won’t want to put that controller down for a minute.
This summer Xbox Live arcade game offers 35 single player stages along with 12 Skill Games (mini games). The single player stages start off relatively light-weight, having you enjoy the experience while you learn how to maneuver the bike. Later stages prove difficult to outright insanity, putting you in stages that require perfect timing to make it over single leaps and bounds. The mini games are for quick amusement that would really make you want to go back and beat friends’ scores and leader boards. Additionally both modes offer bronze, silver and gold medals for acquiring better times with the least amount of falls.
Over the top rag doll physics, while highly entertaining at times, can take a bit of getting used too. While you do unlock bikes that offer faster speeds and better acceleration, they also prove harder to control. This tends to happen more when stages become less forgiving and sections will take 100’s of times to complete.
Interestingly, there is a robust level editor chock-full of items to play with that make very unique stages. You can even share them with friends or download their stages. However, this is as far as you can take it, levels don’t seem to be shared farther then your friends. If none of your friends are playing, then their won’t be much to share.
Bottom Line: Visually great in HD and fun rag doll physics to boot, this game can make you forget how many hours you had been playing. Although we would have liked to see a real multiplayer mode and been able to share content with the masses; there are little additions like, the replay mode and garage to edit your bike which are also great to keep things going. Trials HD, is a great way to pass the time and have some laughs. We’re willing to give it retries just to beat your friend’s score. 8.5
