Xbox One’s Killer Instinct will be a work in progress even after launch

Fun and frantic is what this game is but even at E3 with only five months till the game is launched not all animations, characters, modes and moves have been finalized or even discussed. When speaking to Microsoft Creative Director Ken Lobb and David Verfaillie, Design Director from Double Helix at E3 have both said there will be three options of which Killer Instinct can be purchased. The first being a pay for each character model, people will receive Jago as the only playable character and can play any section of the game with him for free and if they choose can by more characters to their liking. The second will be a Season-Pass model which will allow you to get everything the game will have to offer as it comes out. The third will be a special edition of the Season-Pass that will give you bonus content.

When questioned if bosses would be in the game they could only clarify that they are not working towards a finished product but refining the game over time. They want to make the best experience and the dream scenario would be to keep working on Killer Instinct years out.

With a couple other statements it seems clear that not all characters will be available come launch and this is more like stages of a project that started not to long ago. Being that they will keep announcing a new character for each up coming event, the next being EVO 2013. There aren’t too many leading up till November that characters can get announced but some have already been ruled out but not for good just for 2013 which is interesting to hear. We’ll have more updates on how much is planning to actually launch come November and how long this will take afterward.

What do you guys think, should this game have been released when done or could this be a new way games can be released in the future?

  1. Very happy they’re finally coming out with it. Not sure how invested I can be if I’m waiting for a full roster after the Xbox One comes out ..
