New Angry Bird: Star Wars game releasing in September

Angry Birds creator Rovio announced a new game in the Angry Bird series releasing in September.

Angry Birds: Star Wars 2, which will fling into mobile devices around the world on September 19. As teased last week, the game will incorporate new birds and elements from the Star Wars prequels.

As the great and powerful Yogurt said in the 1987 classic Spaceballs, “Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the movie is made.”

Angry Birds will now incorporate “Telepods.” Devices that will allow players to transport their physical toy into the game. Yup, they Skylandered Angry Birds. Why? Probably because the Skylanders series is wildly successful and has already surpassed a billion dollars in sales. It’s what the house of the mouse is betting on with Disney Infinity.
