One of the most anticipated Call of Duty killer games has finally hit open beta. Battlefield 3 today hits Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC today. If you haven't already downloaded it I would do so now. Playstation 3 owners will have to wait a little longer until after the update comes out this today.
Sony and EA have come to an agreement to bring Battlefield 3's DLC to the Playstation 3 first. Considering that Microsoft has had first dibs on the DLC for the Call of Duty DLC. The wait for the map packs or DLC won't take a month or more for it to surface on 360 though, the agreement that they've made is that the DLC will come to the 360 a week later. The first DLC to hit will be the "Back to Karkand" package which will include four maps from Battlefield 2 all remade with the Frostbite 2 engine. Expect Battlefield 3 out later this year, and the DLC a little later.
New games are on the horizon, and with new games comes new system requirements (at least for PC). Battlefield 3 will be one of the big contenders to try to take the spotlight from the Call of Duty series. If it will do so we won't find out till the time comes but many people hope so. As for the Battlefield veterans, they are at the end of their seats waiting for this to game out since this will be the real sequel to Battlefield 2. For the PC gamers hardware is key for games to run smoothly, and how developers wanted the game to run. Well wait no more, and open your wallets up cause the minimum and recommended specs have been released.
We got the chance to sit in on the pre-alpha build of Battlefield 3 at PAX East. Many of you have probably already seen what the build looks like during the trailers that were released of the game but to see it played with my own eyes was amazing to say the least.
