News of Black Ops have been flying left and right the past few days of what Black Ops will have to offer, and I must say it is all pretty overwhelming. Originally I was semi impressed of what Treyarch was offering us in their rendition of the Modern Warfare franchise, but as more information is getting released to us the more and more appealing the game is turning out. So here’s a list of what we know so far for the Multiplayer part of the game, keep in mind nothing is set in stone and things may change.

COD Points: In game currency used to purchase upgrades, outfits, killstreaks, emblems, customization for weapons, customization for looks, and is also used in “betting” for competitive Wager game mode. More on Wager mode later.

Killstreaks: This is one of the more important aspects of the game play. From what we hear kills from killstreaks do not count towards the next killstreak. Meaning to get up to the 11th kill streak kills must be made manually with loadout weapons. Current killstreaks are lined up as shown:

* 3 kill streaks: Spy Plane, RC-XD

* 4 kill streaks: Counter-Spy Plane, SAM Turret

* 5 kill streaks: Care Package, Napalm Strike

* 6 kill streaks: Sentry Gun, Mortar Team

* 7 kill streaks: Attack Helicopter, Valkyrie Rockets

* 8 kill streaks: Blackbird, Rolling Thunder

* 9 kill streaks: Chopper Gunner

* 11 kill streaks: Attack Dogs, Gunship

Combat Training: This is something new and innovative to the COD franchise. Training will be either single or co-op and give players the ability to practice games off-line to get accustomed to the levels. Bots are available within training to get a semi-realistic game play. Treyarch hopes that this mode will get gamers who don’t play online a chance to practice before jumping into a real online game so they aren’t as humiliated.

Replay System: You read it right, Treyarch has given braggers an easier way to upload and record their game winning kills in a “Halo Forge” styled system. Players can review each game through the point of any player and through any angle.

Contracts: Contracts is another way of making COD Points. Pay for a contract, complete the task assigned to the contract such as getting 10 kills within a game within an allotted amount of time and gain more points in return. Fail and well… there’s no returns on failed tasks.

Wager Matches: A way to put your COD Points where your mouth is. Think you have what it takes to make money and rack up kills at the same time? Wager matches gives players a way to put COD Points on yourself in a game. Top three players get paid, and everyone else… Well they don’t quite really matter since only the top three get paid. Within Wager matches are different game modes.

“One in the Chamber” pits players against each other armed with just one pistol and one bullet. Killing someone else earns you an extra bullet, but missing leaves you with just a knife.

“Sticks and Stones” gives everyone a tomahawk, a ballistic knife and a crossbow, and hitting an opponent with a tomahawk automatically bankrupts them.

“Gun Game” has players progressing through the various gun tiers, a kill moves you up to a stronger weapon, but dying drops you back down.

“Sharp Shooter” gives everyone a series of random weapons, with everyone switching to the next randomly selected one after a certain amount of time that has passed.

Care Package Weapons: Care package only weapons in the game so far include Death Machine: a gatling/mini gun, and Grim Reaper: a four incendiary round rocket launcher.

Last year, for the 20th anniversary of the SaGa series, Square Enix released a DS remake of the Game Boy’s SaGa 2, which we knew as Final Fantasy Legend 2. This year, Square Enix is remaking SaGa 3: The Ruler of Space and Time (our Final Fantasy Legend 3).

Early Famitsu scans show the same kind of slightly cutesy visual makeover given to SaGa 2. Siliconera reports that it’ll retain the freaky class system from the original, in which characters can change classes immediately either by equipping cyborg parts from downed enemies — or eating meat made of defeated monsters.

Activision has recently released the full track list for DJ Hero 2. The long list of artists are sure to impress, with 105 songs and a slew of artists to choose from you can’t go wrong. Mix, scratch, and sing in DJ Hero 2 to make music like you never heard before. Check out the long list and be ready on October 19th for when DJ Hero 2 drops in stores.

Games for games was a great idea that Gamestop has been practicing for years, but games for electronics is an even better one. Today begins the revolution, 600 Best Buys across nation opens their doors to gamers who have an abundance of games but not enough electronics. Games traded in are credited to a Best Buy gift card which then can be used to purchase other goods within the store. Of course there are some stipulations to trade-ins which can be found here.

Nintendo has decided to liven up things near the end of Summer by releasing their list of some upcoming games.

Wii games will include Metroid: Other M on Aug. 31, Samurai Warriors 3 on Sept. 27, Wii Party on Oct. 3, Kirby’s Epic Yarn on Oct. 17, PokéPark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure on Nov. 1, FlingSmash on Nov. 7 and Donkey Kong Country Returns on Nov. 21. Some marquee third-party games include New Carnival Games from 2K Play on Sept. 21, NBA JAM from EA Sports on Oct. 5, Just Dance 2 from Ubisoft on Oct. 12, GoldenEye 007 from Activision Publishing, Inc. in November, Sonic Colors from SEGA on Nov. 16 and Disney Epic Mickey from Disney Interactive Studios this holiday season.

For the Nintendo DS family of systems, upcoming games include Professor Layton and the Unwound Future on Sept. 12, Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs on Oct. 4, Art Academy on Oct. 25 and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! on Nov. 14. Some featured third-party games on the way for the rest of the year include Super Scribblenauts from Warner Bros. in October, FINAL FANTASY: The 4 Heroes of Light from Square Enix on Oct. 5 and Rock Band 3 from Electronic Arts/MTV on Oct. 29. Upcoming downloadable games for the WiiWare service include And Yet It Moves from Broken Rules on Aug. 23, BIT.TRIP FATE by Gaijin Games this fall and Super Meat Boy from Team Meat during the holidays. On the Nintendo DSiWare downloadable game service, fans can watch for Need For Speed Nitro-X from Electronic Arts on Sept. 20 and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge from WayForward during the holidays.

THQ has declared video games can and should be considered art, and to solidify their claim they’ve decided to release uDraw. uDraw is a six inch tablet controller for the Wii. The intuitive design for the tablet makes drawing simple, and the controls are easy to learn. uDraw will be out during the holiday season bundled with uDraw Studio, a coloring and art-based video game, all for the price of $70. Other games that will be available for uDraw will be Pictionary and Dood’s Big Adventure at the price around $30.

EA announced today that every copy of NBA Elite ‘11 releasing this October will include a one time download code for NBA Jam which is good for the PS3 and Xbox 360. If you haven’t noticed already that up until this point NBA had only been announced for the Wii. Word is that this will be the only way to receive NBA Jam on the PS3 or the Xbox 360. The download code will include three modes for NBA Jam, which are Classic Campaign, Play Now and Online. If your reading this like we are then you can technically say your getting either or game for free but this is a nice touch to have.

Do you feel like living through a full-fledged Metroid experience, but can’t be bothered to do all that item-hunting? No, you couldn’t care less about those stray E-Tanks and absent missile expansions. Do you care about the deep, rich lore of Samus’ Zebesian struggle. Metroid: Other M will have the option of watching game’s cut scenes into a streamlined, two-hour, non-interactive story through Theater Mode.

The series’ godfather, Yoshio Sakamoto, explained that the mode, which unlocks after completing the game, would allow returning players to soak in all the dialogue and events of the story without having to replay the whole thing over again. Why, that sounds a heck of a lot like the full-length Shenmue movie which accompanied the game’s sequel.

Activision announced the official name of the upcoming Monster Jam videogame – Monster Jam: Path of Destruction. The video game will be available at retail on November 9, 2010 on Wii, Nintendo DS, the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PSP. Monster Jam: Path of Destruction is the ultimate, authentic monster truck experience complete with unprecedented realism, customization, truck handling and all-out destruction. Fan-favorites Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, and Grinder are all in the mix, and players can also create and customize their own trucks with thousands of options, unlocking new parts and upgrades as they progress through the game with the ultimate goal of reaching of reaching the Monster Jam World Finals.

Monster Jam: Path of Destruction is being developed with the most advanced vehicle handling ever. Gamers will be able to compete in the most popular Monster Jam stadiums, and will be blown away by the overall gaming experience and realism. More information on the game’s features will be revealed over the summer and fall.
