LVLONE Weekly Roundup: Forza Horizon 2, new Homefront, Mortal Kombat X announced, game delays and more

Only days away from next weeks big gaming event E3 and we’re having all sorts of gaming bits coming from ever corner. Their could not have been more announcements and trailers for a week before an actual event but some games also suffered some delays as well, here’s the rundown!

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Forza Horizon 2 was announced earlier this week by Microsoft and is being helmed by the studio that gave you the first installment for Xbox One while the Xbox 360 version will be by Sumo Digital. The big game changers this time around for the Xbox One version will the use of the Forza 5 engine as a base line which means a huge increase in graphical goodness and things like the drive-avater system being in full effect. We’ve also learned that the game will sport 1080p, have hundreds of cars, have real time weather effects and now be in an all new setting, Southern Europe. Expect the game out this fall and for more info along with gameplay to drop next week at Microsoft’s press conference.

Warner bros and NetherRealm’s have announced Mortal Kombat X with an official teaser trailer that is shown below. The game will be released in 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Not much information has been shared except a huge focus on online well be the forefront of this game but we’ll be sure to see and here more next week at E3.

Homefront: The Revolution was announced this week which is being developed by Crytek and published by Deep Silver. Many weren’t sure what was to come after the games IP was put up for auction from THQ when they folded and it looks like they’ve made good on their investment. The game is scheduled to be released for PS4 Xbox One and PC in 2015. Check out the teaser below and be sure to check us out during E3 for more on the game.

On the shorter end of the list Crytek has announced another free-to-play game called Hun: Horrors of the Gilded Age which focuses on co-op play aka Left 4 Dead and will be released by fall of 2014. A game that we found most enjoyable Costume Quest will see a sequel this Halloween for PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, Xbox 360, PS3, Windows PC, Mac and Linux. It will feature returning characters and giant transforming costumes of the sorts. Already releasing on PS4 Awesomenauts Assemble will be heading to Xbox One as well

NEW RELEASE DATES
Publisher CD Projekt RED has revealed that the Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt will be officially released on February 24th, 2015. They have gone as far as to release a gameplay trailer which looks incredible! The game will be released for PS4, Xbox One and PS4.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be releasing on 14th October, this year for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. This game should serve as the in-between for Borderlands 2 and 3 (not announced). They’ve gone on record as to why the game didn’t see a next gen release but still can’t help but feel a little disappointed, still for the Borderland fanatics will be able to get their fix in the fall.

DELAYED
Batman: Arkham Knight which had received a new gameplay (visual) trailer a few weeks back has now seen a delay to 2015. The game which is looking quite well we might add seems to need more time to get the large scale city at its peak. The game will still be shown at E3 so not to give up on it just yet.

PICK OF THE WEEK
This weeks pick of the week is the addition of Xbox’s Games with Gold program extending to Xbox One. The platform was released last year E3 as a competitor to PS Plus’s free games. Each month will see two game releases which are free with those who are Xbox Live Gold Members. The first games are Max Curse of the Brotherhood and Halo Spartan Assault. The games are absolutely free and are available right now! If you click on the links and sign in you can que the games to download before you get home.
