World Series of EVE

The 8th annual EVE Online Alliance Tournament, the pinnacle of e-competitions, begins this weekend. For those unfamiliar, it’s basically EVE’s version of the World Cup, March Madness, World Series, Olympics, & hell, you get the idea. 64 Alliances are each allowed to field a team, made up of their own pilots, using their own in-game assets which they stand to lose.

For the next few weekends they battle it out with the top EVE pilots, setting the stage for the finals. The winning team goes away with bragging rights, a wad of game currency and some beautiful, unique ships. And, the best part is all of this is televised, LIVE in HD. From here:
