With the Playstation’s longevity, they never quite settled on just 1 particular mascot. Just many great characters.
Crash Bandicoot and Solid Snake are great characters, but are no longer a option due to the characters having multiple game releases on other systems. As for Sackboy, even with 1 great game, the character is not as established as the others.
The Playstation brand has had many characters to call its own (Jak&Daxter, Spyro the Dragon, Kratos, Nathan Drake, Helgast soldiers, and the many Final Fantasy characters) Rachet & Clank would be the front runners for the brand mascot with over 7 game releases.
I miss those Crash Bandicoot commercials and Ratchet is a Lombax, not a bobcat.

Yea, I think Ratchet would be a great mascot, seeing that he’s been around for a while now.

thats not fare to say that a lovable character doesn’t have the potential for being not only for kids when mario speaks to alot of groups, especially for older people that grew up with him. I would think if anything thats what any of these companies were trying to establish, someone that would/could be around for years, Timeless!.

I think Nathan Drake is the best candidate. He is clearly different from other mascots, and has a more universal appeal than even Sackboy, who is better suited for younger kids. Would the hardcore gamer identify with Sackboy? Or would he turn to Master Chief? Drake is the next best thing to having Indiana Jones himself pulling for Sony.

Besides, Mm suggested they would not make any LBP sequels, which could kill Sackboy as a mascot. Naughty Dog, on the other hand, said they would continue making Uncharted so long as there is a demand.

So Sony – keep supporting Naughty Dog and their star character!

I guess you can view as sort of a casting call and it seems like the game has to be successful before even questioning itself as the golden child. Like when microsoft tried to make Blinx their mascot but failed when the game ended up sucking Lol
